Did you know that it was in Wales that the Sealyham Terrier originated from?
According to certain sources, the Sealyham Terrier originally came from a terrier that was imported into Wales from Belgium during the 15th century.

Did you know that the Sealyham Terrier got its name from Captain Edwards' estate in Wales?
The estate was located in Sealy Ham, Haverfordwest. It was Captain John Edwards who developed the breed from a strain of dogs that were said to have an obscure ancestry between 1850 and 1891. These dogs were noted for their prowess in hunting otter and badgerm fox.

Did you know that the strain of dogs Captain Edwards developed to produce the Sealyham Terrier comprised of many different breeds?
The breeds used to develop the Sealyham Terrier include the Dandie Dinmont, the Wirehaired Fox Terriers, the Corgi, the Bull Terrier, the West Highland White and others.

Did you know that it was in 1903 that the Sealyham's first show appearance was recorded?
This was at a local show held in Haverfordwest, Wales. It was only five years after, in 1908 that fanciers of the breed in Wales founded the Sealyham Terrier Club of Haverfordwest. It was during the first meeting of the club that the original standards of the breed were first drawn.

Did you know that it was only two years after that the Sealyham appeared in its first championship show?
This was in October, 1910 at the English Kennel Show. And the English Kennel Club offered the first Challenge Certificates for Sealyham Terriers after its recognition in March 8, 1911. This was during the Great Joint Terrier Show held in London on June 10, 1911. Among the numerous honors Sealyhams received, it is a four-time winner of the Best in Show at Westminster.

Did you know that the breed was first imported to the US in 1911 and it was recognized by the American Kennel Club thereafter?
The Sealyham Terrier then had its debut show in San Mateo, California on September 1911.
