There are many reasons as to why your do may be exhibiting aggressive behavior; the terrier is a very territorial animal and may feel that their territory is compromised, they may also feel threatened by changes in the environment, or it may stem from the lack of a feeling of security and confidence. Often this aggressive behavior will include barking and lunging at others. This type of behavior can be controlled if steps are taken early on before it becomes serious and harder to control.

If you speak to your vet, they may be able to recommend some training methods for particular aggressive behaviors, or they can recommend some professional trainers who are experienced and able to deal with dog aggression. With some research, effort, and time you will find that your smooth fox terrier's aggressive behavior will change with the right type of training and encouragement.
