Miniature Schnauzer

When it comes to showing the Giant Schnauzer, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. You will want to present your Giant Schnauzer in the best light possible. This is a dog you want to be noticed for more than its sheer size.

The first thing you will want to do to prepare your Giant Schnauzer to be shown will be to have him professionally groomed. You will want to find a professional groomer who has experience in preparing a Giant Schnauzer to be shown. A groomer who does not have the necessary experience could prove to be an expensive mistake! The coat of the Giant Schnauzer can be tricky to prepare in the best of cases. You do not want a dog that will look funny because of a lack of experience on the groomer's part.

The groomer should first strip the coat of your Giant Schnauzer. This is simply the removal of the dead hair from the coat of your Giant Schnauzer. However, stripping is time consuming and very difficult work. It is done without the use of any mechanical devices. It is very labor intensive. This means no scissors or clippers! It is very time consuming and must be done with a striping knife by hand. This is not going to be cheap, even if you have managed to find a groomer who knows how to correctly do this. This should be done a minimum of four times a year.

Now that your Giant Schnauzer is looking his best, you will want to focus on his many strengths in order to show him to his best advantage. This will be through the many different athletic events that your dog may participate in during the show. The Giant Schnauzer is a true athlete and this will be the area in which he will shine.

This breed performs well in obedience competition. It has a natural aptitude for obedience training and is known for his thorough and quick understanding of the desires of his master. It is almost as if the Giant Schnauzer is so in tune with his master that he telepathically anticipates the desires of his handler and obeys with a precision that is awe inspiring.

The Giant Schnauzer will do well with the sport of agility. This is a sport and competition that he loves and it allows him to move his long legs and participate in something he deems as fun and a good time. He loves the challenge that this competition brings to him both mentally and physically. He will truly be a sight to behold while competing in agility!

The Giant Schnauzer will do well in the Herding competition. He has a natural ability. He is a shepherd, and he is a gatherer. His instinct in this area will run true and strong as this is what he was literally bred to do! It will be a real treat to watch him at work in this competition!

It is always a moment of great bonding when you help your Giant Schnauzer to do well in the show arena. It is truly a relationship that will grow stronger over the years of your show life together.
