There are few things as awe inspiring in life as the energy of a Giant Schnauzer. He is truly an animal that will keep going and going, no batteries required!

The Giant Schnauzer truly needs as much exercise as possible. If he does not receive enough daily stimulation, he will literally bounce off of the walls and will be extremely difficult to manage. A Giant Schnauzer has a great need to expend his excess energy daily or he will not be able to settle in for the night. This is not a scenario that you will wish to experience. If you do experience it, it is almost guaranteed that it will only happen once.

A Giant Schnauzer should receive exercise at a minimum of two times a day. They need to walk or run a minimum of two miles per day. The Giant Schnauzer will need a play session where they can just run freely off of a leash. This should involve more than just a play session in the back yard. They need room to stretch their legs and run to their hearts content!

It would be smart to engage your Giant Schnauzer in some of the various doggie sports which are available. They love the physical stimulation that this provides and the competition. They are extremely competitive in nature and possess a natural ability for many doggie sports and should do very well in them.

Carting is an excellent sport for the Giant Schnauzer. A cart is simply hooked up to a dog who is wearing a harness. The dog then pulls the cart from one location to another. This sport offers the opportunity for the discipline and exercise the Giant Schnauzer craves and needs. The Giant Schnauzer is a dog from the working breed class and will be content when it is given a job to do. He is a dog that loves to go to work!

Skijoring is an exciting and exhilarating sport for the winter that your Giant Schnauzer will love participating in! It combines the many aspects of dog mushing and cross country skiing. It allows the Giant Schnauzer the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while exercising with his owner. Done properly, your Giant Schnauzer will learn to quickly love it. He will be anxious to perform this sport.

The Giant Schnauzer is very good in the sport of agility. They love the complexity of the obstacle course that the dog will navigate at the direction of handler. The Giant Schnauzer loves the challenge and stimulation that the different aspect of the course provides to him. He will receive a mental workout as well as a physical one.

Providing opportunities for the Giant Schnauzer to expend his energy on can be wearing for an owner. But with diligence and dedication, you can have fun and enjoy the smile that will surely be upon the face of your Giant Schnauzer! That alone will make it all worth the effort and energy you must bestow upon him!
