When you are looking for a horse that is considered to be quite flashy in competition, you may want to consider the Buckskin horse. With its unique coloring and dark points, the Buckskin horse is an eye-pleasing sight during a competition. The Buckskin is also considered to be a superior equine specimen when it comes to determination and stamina.

There are several equine events that the Buckskin will do well in during competition. These events include dressage, show jumping and eventing. With the determination and stamina that the Buckskin possesses, it is a natural choice and fierce competitor in these events.

Dressage

-This sport is named after the French word for training. It is sometimes referred to as an equine ballet. This competition will show the willingness of the Buckskin horse to perform as well as show off his abilities which are natural in the field of athletics. The Buckskin should be able to respond to minimal aids or signals from his skilled rider during the event. The responses should be smooth and relaxed. The movements must appear to be effortless as the Buckskin performs the requested movements. It is believed that a horse that has been trained with standardized methods will have a superior potential as a riding horse. Dressage is the opportunity to show the results of the careful training that has been applied as the horse shows off his skills.

Show Jumping

-This event is often seen at horse shows throughout the world. It is sometimes referred to as stadium jumping or jumpers. In this competition, the classes compete on a course that consists of show jumping obstacles. These obstacles consist of several changes of direction and turns as the horse jumps over various jumps. The jumps vary as they consist of verticals, spreads and double and triple combinations. The Buckskin must jump over each of the obstacles in the course in a particular order within an allotted amount of time. If the Buckskin exceeds the amount of time that is allowed for the competition, then it is assessed a time fault. If the horse knocks down any of the jumps or refuses to jump them, it is assessed what is known as a jumping fault. There are only a few refusals allowed in the competition before the horse is disqualified. The horse with the lowest number of accumulated faults wins the first place position.

Eventing

-This event is made up of three different competitions and is often referred to as the triathlon of the equestrian world. The three events that the horses compete in are dressage, show jumping and cross country. The competition takes place in one of two different formats. The first is a one day event, while the other is a three day event. The horses are checked closely by veterinarians to ensure that they are fit enough to compete in the events. Eventing is a very intense competition and the horse must be in top condition in order to compete. Not only will a horse that is fit be able to compete effectively in the competition, but it will be able to do so safely. The Buckskin is a natural at this event as the horse that competes must have a deep determination to finish and the Buckskin is known for its determination.
