Chihuahuas are noted for their distinct looks and unique personalities. They are so beloved in fact, many notable Chihuahuas have been made famous in the media and movies.

Here are some of the most notable uses of these loveable little dogs in the media:

Restaurant Promotions the Media and Internet

Taco Bell introduced the Taco Bell Chihuahua in September of 1997. Gidget, the actual name of the Taco Bell mascot became a marketing success. Not only did he appear on the Taco Bell commercials, but the toy and souvenir manufacturers got in on the craze and started producing Taco Bell dogs with the cute little Mexican accent and catch phrases such as "Yo quiero Taco Bell." Gidget is presently out of the limelight and living with his owners in LaGrange, Texas.



Television and Animation

The Disney Channel lays claim to Coco, the Chihuahua featured in That's So Raven.



Tito is the Chihuahua in the Walt Disney Feature Animation, Oliver and Company.



Warner Brothers Animation runs a TV series Called Krypto. Mammoth Mutt is a Chihuahua with the ability to inflate her body into a ball in order to fight off her enemies.



We have a Chihuahua by the name of Lou, on the television series The Soup.



Many children and adults alike will remember Madeleine Shirley, the Chihuahua fortune teller in the cartoon series Courage the Cowardly Dog.



The strange animated series Ren and Stimpy features Ren Hoek, a weird asthmatic Chihuahua.



Invader Zim is another animated series starring a rather spooky Chihuahua



Chihuahuas Represented in Books

Ducky the Chihuahua was named the world's smallest dog by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007. Ducky is only 5.4 inches tall.



Pepito is the Chihuahua in the story Pepito the little Dancing Dog and is the real life pet of the author, Xavier Cugat.



Wheely Willy is the popular paraplegic Chihuahua in the two children's books. How Willy Got His Wheels and How Willy Got his Wings: The Future Adventures of Wheely Willy. He is often in the public eye and has made appearances on such shows as Animal Planet. His role is to help promote the understanding of disabilities.



Chihuahuas in the Movies

Moonie is the real name of Bruiser, the Chihuahua in the Legally Blonde Movie with Reese Witherspoon. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe - comedy motion picture award. It made number 29 in Bravo's funniest movies.



Pancho is the Chihuahua star in the Martin Lawrence's movie Big Mama's House 2



We will even find Max Shreck's Chihuahua Geraldo in the blockbuster movie Batman Returns.

Mimi is Sharon Osborne's beloved Chihuahua companion that she carries with her almost everywhere she goes.



We cannot talk about Sharon Osborne's Mimi without talking about Paris Hilton's Tinkerbell and Bambi. Tinkerbell even has her own "Tinkerbell Hilton Series".



Fans of Hilary Duff will now be happy to know that her Chihuahua, Lola, has her own blog on the Hilary Duff website.



Chihuahua's are fast becoming rising stars in the Hollywood Scene. The little dogs might be Tiny but a powerhouse for marketability.
