There are many things you can do with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi including taking walks, jogging, running, playing fetch and swimming. They are happy with anything they do with you as long as they are with you. You can even use them in the field to ride along on a tractor. They are great protectors and can be useful to alert someone if danger is around. They also can summon help if you become injured. There are so many things to do with the Corgi including having them bring in the cattle or other farm animals.
Playing Fetch and Swimming
If you have an area of beach where you can take your Welsh Corgi, you will find out that you will tire easily than they will. They love to play fetch and swim. Throwing a stick or a ball into the water and having the dog bring it back is so exciting for them to do! They get plenty of exercise and look forward to a long nap afterwards. Just playing a game of fetch in the backyard will also give them plenty of exercise as well as yourself. If you have a small pool, they will frolic in the water during playtime.
Running Or Jogging
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a great running or jogging friend. Although their small legs tire easily, they will keep going until you stop. You do have to take into consideration that their little legs travel more of a distance than your legs and they may only be able to run have as far as you do. In this case, if you plan a long run, a doggie backpack may be needed to carry them part of the time to ensure they do not overwork their legs and body. Always bring water along for some refreshment.
Hiking or Walking
Hiking through the wood or walking around the block, the Welsh Corgi is happy to be going along. They need exercise to keep their weight under control and what better way to bond as well. They do need to exercise, but keep in mind they can walk forever without complaining, but the ideal walk would be for an hour or less. Puppies may need to start out with less than this amount of time and work up to longer hikes or walks.
Working The Farm With You
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are born herders and working on the farm with you by their side makes them extremely happy. They are there to drive the animals and are even good for running the fields flushing out birds and vermin's that eat away at crops. They are at their happiest when doing something to please you. You can even have them ride along on the tractor. A man and his best friend farming the land…they are great dogs and love to anything that involves you.
