Faye_Girly, both of my kids who served, did so in the Navy, one a neuclear engineer and the other a cryptographer. bluetripiniguana~ while I'd hate to see it go (remember, it's been in there since I learned it and I'm an old lady~grin) you are 100% correct. The Knights of Colombus got it added! Allie, glad you're debating worthwhile subjects in school, even if they are tough ones. The whole idea behind current, ETHECIAL stem cell research (as those at UM are doing it and I'm sure MANY others) does NOT involve the cloning of any living creature, only cells from the cord to clone organs. ONLY organs, not a person or any other living creature to harvest those organs. I, personally, have no objection to cloning organs as I doubt (seriously) if they have any sentient intelligence or feelings on their own (at least MY liver hasn't expressed any to date)! The other source of the cells is someplace non-invasive that I have TOTALLY forgotten (was in the news only a week or so ago). In other words, believe none of what you hear and less than half of what you read. Do the research and reach your own conclusions, once you have all the unbiased facts in front of you. The issue at debate is not really stem cell reseach it is in cloning living beings and on abortion. Then again, what about the issue of parents who have grown or half grown children, find one has a deadly illness and need a transplant, then become pregnant to deliver the older child's organ donor? This is not science fiction, it is a fact and has happened FAR more than once or twice. Which do you, personally, find morally worng? The stem cell organ, grown from donated umbilical cords or brining a child into this world for the sole purpose of having him/her be an organ donor for a sibling? These are issues that can push everyone's buttons and can bring out the best and worst in each of us. They are base, primal issues, life, death, freedom, beliefs. Once again, I strongly urge everyone to do the research before deciding who is on which side of the issue and just WHAT those issues really are. ps, writing the mortgage company about the insurance check, please forgive my usual typos!
~~~He sent my baby a birth announcement. ~~~ Anyone can get that - you just have to send them your baby's info. IF you didn't - then someone did it for you. I have one too- from Bill Clinton. Until we can have another Bill Clinton - I'm Kerry all the way! He was by far (IMO) the best president we EVER had. His flaws with Ms. Lewinski had nothing to do with how he ran our country. I do not condone adultery at all - but it isn't like he is the only one in office that ever done it.
So some of you would vote just because he has the dog of your choice? Actually, George Bush has an ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANILEL, a puppy from George Bush Senior's dog that he bred. Any body who would vote for a candidate because of a dog breed is a sh*t head.
>Bush jun. wants only to finish the job what his father has started< That's a load of crap. Bush sen. sent in troops and they surrendered after 2 days. Don't you think there may be that possibility that Bush sent his troops in becuase of the world trade centers.....And there is this crap going around that only 1/3 of the rich people got a tax break, which was 1 out of 100. So who do you think got the rest of the 2/3....Hmmmm....Maybe middle class?
chili pepper i agree. I am not voting at all first of all because I'm under age. Second of all because I utterly dislike both candidates. I too am alos sick of all the presedent stuff. edit: Why are we talking about this anyways? It will just cause lots of fighting.
I really see no need for everyone yo get all riled up over this it was just a post about the two breeds of dogs they own but then everyehere you go someone has to yap about being a republican or a demacrat and since this is no longer about the dogs I think Admin should delete the whole post.
I am not trying to be rude anyway, but if you don't vote then you shouldn't gripe about who becomes or is president! (this is for people old enough to vote) Allie, I think you a very smart, and I really think that the older you get the more you will learn about yourself and who you would want to be running your country. I think we should all think about the future and not just about now. I definatley don't think anyone here is seriously voting because of the type of dog they have. but hey, if that's how you vote, that's how you vote, it's better than not voting at all.....or is it? :)
I was just being silly about the birth announcement. I know anyone can get one. I just thought it was funny and just joking around about giving my baby a kiss. Sorry if it sounded like I was being serious but I wasn't. It was just a joke.
As I stated in my 1st post in the thread, politics will always push someone's buttons. I have my own opinions of the vote, but vote I will...one way or the other. It IS possible to debate issues, without becoming angry if you simply debate the ISSUES, not the individuals or party lines. I haven't said whom I am voting for or against, as the case may be. I HAVE stated my opinion on the breeds (grin) AND on one of the driving issues of this campaign. It CAN be done! Everyone needs to understand, we all have different opinions, points of view, life experiences that make some issuees of more import to us than it might be to others but we're all just as entitled to our opionions as the next person. Off to work, every...play nicely!
