For the last couple of days i have been calling around local rescue places to find somewhere that I could put in some time to volunteer.... Even the shelters don't want me :( All I keep hearing is we do not have the man power blah blah blah..... I can't foster a dog right now because Aisha is still a baby herself but I could gladly give a couple of hours a week to go help out with whatever needs to be done. (shrug)
haha! I just wanted somewhere to go for a couple of hours a week, I would do whatever clean crates, walk the dogs, groom, feed, paperwork whatever and I thought it would be a good way to socialize Aisha too.
I know what you mean my daugter wants to volenteer at an animal shelter so badly, but they won't let her because she is only 14. She has taken pet 1st aid classes and she has had first hand experience with dog injerys ( you get those once in a while with as many dogs as I have) Even with so much knowledge of dogs they still won't let her help.
Aisha, You can volunteer to clean my house too. Or better yet, you can walk Toby for me while I'm at work. He would love to see you. The little monkey pooped and peed in the house this morning. He knows my routine before I leave for work, and I swear he gets pissed off.
See Aisha, this is what I have been trying to tell you. Your reputation precedes you. Dear God woman! I tried to spare you this grief so you would not get your feelings hurt. But noooooooooooo! Now step away from the computer and come clean my house!
I know how you feel Aisha!! I called the shelter in DeKalb and they told me to e-mail them my information (phone number, address, etc.) and I did. They sent me an e-mail in return saying they'd be in touch through the phone, but they never called. I dont know why, I thought shelters needed to so much help. Plus, they CHARGE people to volunteer, $25. Which I wouldn't mind paying, because Im sure it goes towards the animals, but still.
All I gotta do is walk to the end of Main Street. That's where our Animal Shelter is. I need to start volunteering there again. I only did once, and I took care of a Bernese Mountain Dog pup named Quigley. A doll he was!!! ---Allie the Chihuahua http://www.dogster.com/?41063 ---Mönica the Kitty http://www.catster.com/?57596
