Hello all, I just need some advice. When I adopted Sassy, she was easily potty-trained and up until now lets me know if she needs to go. All other dogs I've had in the past has learned by puppy pads - got lucky and they all learned quickly. Sasha, however, is having a hard time. We've only had her about two weeks now. She is going on 6 years old in January. The academy we adopted her from said she was house and crate trained. Well, for the first few days, she wouldn't go potty nor eat her food. When I brought her to the vet for her shots, she went potty on the grass there - as if she had been holding it forever! The vet said she is just trying to adjust to the new home and it is normal for her not to potty or eat. Since then, she has progressed in eating. However, she has not progressed in going potty. We crate her for two hours, then take her out - nothing. We put her back in for thirty minutes to an hour, then take her out - nothing. She's peed in the house twice and both times, we said "no!" and took her outside. Nothing. Today, I came home to take her out and again nothing. I wanted to give her a break and let her roam the house. Not five minutes later, she has pooped and peed on the carpet!! Normally, when I let her out in the house, I will play with her and Sassy. Today, I stepped away for not even five minutes and she has pooped right in front of me. I said "no!" and began taking her outside when I noticed that she had pooped on the carpet by the foyer and peed on the tile by the front door. I took her out again and she has already finished her business. What should we do? I don't want to keep her in the crate all the time, but we are tired of wiping up the mess. She won't go outside!! Please help. Thank you in advance for any replies!!
