I found this picture on PETA's website today and I think it is one of the most horrific things I have ever seen done to a living creature. If this picture does not convince people that animal testing is just not right, then I do not know what is wrong with them. I will put up the website but be warned if you are easily upset or disturbed this one might keep you up nights. http://petaliterature.com/viewitem.asp?item=VIV266%20%20%20%20&id=
Shame the picture isn't dated. And doesn't give the location where the picture was taken. Peta does stuff like that all the time. That is horrible, but I'm more interested in knowing who did the testing and whether they continue to do so than I am in just seeing pictures of random cruelty.
Oh, my. How sad. I wish that they did date the pic & tell us where it was taken. And, just out of question, why would anyone want that horrible picture in a poster? Blown up to be humongo? I wouldn't want that poor monkey to be looking at me all night. ---Allie the Chihuahua http://www.dogster.com/?41063 ---Mönica the Kitty http://www.catster.com/?57596
As most of you may know, I love animals. I have dedicated my life to them. I graduated from the Moorpark Exotic Animal Program with a degree in animal behavior. I had to take 2 years of pre-veterinary medicine in order to graduate as well as 2 internships (one with a wildlife education company and the other with a marine mammal rescue) I have been a vet technician, trained for the the show Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and the first Babe movie, lived and worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center..... I could go on and on. My point is I love animals. I am for some forms of animal testing. I have been to the facility where that monkey is, and seen it in person. Most people do not realize how many animals are saved by animal testing. Without it, we would not have the cures for so many of the diseases and ailments that afflict our beloved pets and ourselves. I do not like cosmetic testing or any form of frivelous testing, but for true and honest medical research, I believe it is needed. Not all testing facilities are cruel in the way they keep thier animals. I've toured some that had large habitats for the primates and yards for the dogs and cats. They had daily human interaction (playing, loving, etc.) Many of the researchers would take animals home with them and were all pet lovers themselves. They were not these terrible evil people that some want you to believ they are. PETA is a borderline terrorist group. They are against having animals as pets (dogs, cats, etc.) They were against everything I did with animals (even the wildlife rehabilitation) A little FYI.... for a group that seems to be so against killing animals, why is it then that the president of PETA drives a car with leather interior?! They are out there purely to cause trouble. Many times they make up stories or make something seem bigger than it is. They never give both sides of the story.. always one side. I can honestly say I am totally against them, and I love animals. Sorry to go off on a tangent, but before anyone gets in an uproar about something on PETA's website, I feel a little research needs to be done first. Again, frivelous testing on animals no. Testing to cure diseases in our pets yes!
I understand what you mean Bullymom, PETA tends to go over the deep end about alot of their issues and does not always use common sense or good tactics. But I do appreciate the fact that they do support some causes in which I do agree in such as Animal Right and Cruelty Prevention. And personally I can understand why people do support animal testing and their theroies behind it but it is my beliefs that animal testing using cruel or neglectful procedures or lifestyles is completely unexceptiable, the animals have no choice in the matter. Not to mention that a lot of these testers help keep puppy mills in business, something I think no one on this forum agrees with. I can't imagine the pain and suffering this monkey must have went through in the name of science and it sickens me.
Some times at the royal they check some of the pigs that make it into the sale for styroids if like 5 from one family made it in that is just cruelty I was deaf fot 3 days the pigs screamed sooooo loud.
