i am italian, german, irish and english. the only language i speak is english. i could have learned italian from my mother and grandparents but i never took the time to learn it. something i do regret. it used to frustrate all us kids when my grandparents and aunt and mother used to speak italian all around us because none of us knew what they were saying. my father can speak 7 languages fluently. he had to learn all of them because he was in army intelligence. if i wasn't such a typical kid growing up i could have learned alot of languages.
I am American. Related to Martha Washington on my mom's side. My cousin Mabel was Attorney General of the US. My dad's father was Norwegian, and spoke the language. I speak Spanish, Armenian, Persian and Arabic, in that order and lessening in fuency in that order.
I am mostly German. My mothers side is German. I do have a small amount of Indian and Italian in me though. i guess you could call me a mutt. I have tried to learn other languages but I had a hard time remembering them. In high school I took three years of Spanish but I don't remember any of them. I even took russian and german and hated those classes. But I only speak English. I might try to pick up another language one of these days though.
Hi, I am Canadian born and raised. My parents are both Italian and I speak Italian very well. My oldest son can understand all of it although he will not answer back by little one looks at me like I have 3 heads if I speak in sentances but little things here and there he understands. My husband is also Italian.
I'm hillbilly! Just all American mix. My husband is German, his mother is from Germany, his father is from Transylvania. His parents speak German, actually when his mother move here after WWII she didn't speak any English at all. She had married his father in Germany where he was stationed in the Army then moved to the US and lived with his parents. I can't imagine living in a country where I don't speak the language, that takes a lot of courage!
I am Japanese and Puerto Rican..I was born and raised in Okinawa, but live in Virginia now. My father, although from Puerto Rican descent was adopted by an Irish couple when he was a baby, so we do not know my Puerto Rican heritage. I speak fluent Japanese and of course English, a little spanish..but when someone asks me what my nationality is..I normally just respond with "Japarican" and then let them figure it out. :o)
