I have an English Bull Terrier...he is called Sid, he has been fainting during exercise so we took him to the vet who has diagnosed heart disease. Sid has been prescribed Enacard, Digoxin, Frusemede which have helped but I hear this treatment is shortlived. Sid is only 3yrs old, vet says he must have been born with this defect. please can anybody help or does anybody have a dog living with a heart condition?
With the meds that your pet is on, a lot of times they can live a long life.. Just depends on his little heart. Had a Japenese Chin at work that lived to be 12 on the same meds. Keep up the meds and regular visits to your vet. Watch the breathing and not too much activity(2mile hikes and lots of running at one time)
thankyou so much, your message has given me a positive outlook for 'sid'. everything i have read about heart conditions in dogs has been negative so far. i love sid so much and i'm exploring every avenue i can at the moment to try to help him live out his natural dog years. i don't want to lose him but i won't let him suffer.
