I am unsure how much to charge for shipping my pups? It costs so much to ship: crate, extra stuff to go in crate, airline fee, all that. Not sure how to charge. After pricing it out, I have come to the amount of $250.00. Because of all the extra things the airline requires and that includes their ticket to fly. Help!
HI-Well, the costs depends on several things. You will need to purchase a health certificate from your vet's office-that cost can run from $10-35 depending upon your vet clinic. You will need a crate for the animal-it must be able to stand up in the crate, sit up in the crate, and turn around with plenty of room. So figure in the cost of an airline approved crate. You will then need to make sure that you have food and water dishes attached to the door of the crate, some crate come with them and others do not. You will need to put some sort of material in the bottom of the crate (newspaper works best). Then you will need to call around to the different airlines to find out what they charge to send the puppy to the desired location. There are different ways to ship a puppy with the airlines, they charge different prices for their services. You will need to make sure that the puppy will get there in one day and that you will not have to pay for an overnight kennel service. For an extra large puppy (St. Bernard) , we charge $300, this usually covers the costs. I also charge a little extra over the shipping fee's to include my 5 hour trip to the airport. If you are shipping a small breed puppy you will have a lesser fee. You will also need to send food with the puppy attached on the top of the crate. This should help.
