I have noticed in the last day or two that Lady is following Rusty around like crazy. I don't mean following behind him, I mean she is right next to him, like touching him, hearding him might be a better word. Yet, she seems to be a bit leary of him at other times. It is just so out of the blue from her normal behavior. I don't know if she's trying to learn how to play or what. I'm afraid Rusty is going to get annoyed pretty soon. What do y'all think?
That's ok, I have trouble keeping everyone straight too. Rusty is about 6, golden retriever and Lady is the greyhound I adopted last month. Here's their dogster links. Also, when I first got Lady she and Rusty got in a fight and she's been a bit scared of him ever since. It was a real shock because Rusty is the most laid back dog I know. Have a good day! gina there will be some behavioral changes in lady as she gets used to your home and starts to feel more comfortable. it is usually around the 2 month mark for most adopted dogs. i would just keep an eye on them both . sometimes a leaning body posture is a sign of 1 dog trying to dominate another, also is their head resting over the neck, or a paw on the back, or a hind end body slam.
What I've seen of greyhounds is they seem to think kinda weird, like dobies, they don't give much away about what they are thinking. May have freaked the Golden out at first and he misinterpreted her intent, and gave her what for over it. That, or she thinks he is a big yellow rabbit and is coursing after him.
Rofl...I can just see her chasing Rusty. Not a dog in my house would stand a chance. Scout, that makes sense too. It just seems so odd that at times she's literally leaning on him while they walk and other times she still seems a bit scared of him. I will definately be watching out. Thanks.
