I have only bought one Christmas present so far. I usually wait until the week before or two weeks before Christamsa to do all my shopping. Yesterday I cleaned the house, somewhat. I really was just a lazy butt and watched some football with hubby.
I spent the whole day at the dog show again. It was so much fun. I had the best time. I also think I've found my bulldog breeder! YEAH! It will be a couple of years but it's never to early to start looking. I'm going to travel to Pittsburgh in March for the Bulldog Club of Pittsburgh show. I'm very excited about that. Most of the bulldogs that were in the show on Saturday were related in some way. Does that happen often? They all originated from this one breeder. They were the children or grandchildren. I'm sure it made the competition very tough. My favorite one won best of breed (this dog belonged to the breeder I liked). This breeder is about an hour from me so thats nice. I'm going to do some more research between now and March and see what I come up with. I'll have lots of questions for them in March I'm sure. She also gave me her e-mail so I'm sure she'll get plenty of e-mails between now and March also. I'm so excited! Can you tell?
OK no more banging. When I went into severe withdrawls, and counted on my fingers how long was 72 hrs. I went to http://www.petfinders.com/messageboard/ to where it said message. It is a bit more developed, you can add pics etc. but it is very slow and I think not many people or topics. I don't like switching the entire venue just to talk about a different topic. I like the way TP has them mixed. If I want to talk about the registration papers instead of housebreaking here I just scroll...petfinders sucks for variety. One thing they do that is kinda neat, but kinda annoying is that they email you when someone next posts on any topic you were on. If you had an important question you could...well TP is better for that too.

Zoe: Now you agree why I always tell people shopping for a purebred dog to go to a specialty dogshow. They are like a doggie supermarket. And, oh gossip and politics...you think TP is fun. Did you see the comedy "Best in Show"? Sooo true.
Kittysmom: I love that movie best in show. Its so wonderful. I totally agree with you that a dog show is the best place to find a breeder. This was my first dog show and I'm completely hooked. No offense to any poodle "showers" but I just can't believe how rude they are. My 5 yr. old has always LOVED the standard poodle. They wouldn't let her anywhere near those dogs. They were grooming constantly. Even when there breed show was over. Only one dog won best of breed, can't they stop grooming the rest now? Apparently not. She finally was able to see one of the miniature poodles but that was it. She was very disappointed.

Yeah. I tell pup buyers not to be put off by the attitude. These folk have waited long and hard and expensive to get to that show. Sometimes it's a last or best shot thing. They don't always even notice me when I talk to them. I kinda smile a lot and just get in their face if I know them. Also talk about their dogs. They like that. dirty gossip doesn't fly unles you know each other well and are not just considered a buyer or something. Dirty gossip would inc. who is passing on genetic problems so the 2 yr. wait for you should be a great thing. Also there is a rule that exhibitors may not say bad things about other dogs/people at the show...they will get kicked out. It even applies at dinner later, if a judge gets wind of it, you're gone! Oh and 5 yr. olds (Kmom schudders), well Zoe...what can I say?
