I noticed Olive Oyl got a lump on her rib cage about a week and a half ago. At first I didn't think much about it because she had a shot in that area and they sometimes get lumps afterwards, but after a couple of days I was starting to get worried my first though was that she had broke a rib because the knot was right on her rib cage, but I kind of got to feeling around on it and it doesn't cause her any pain, and the lump is not entirely hard it will morve some, so I guess it is not a broke rib. , it didn't hurt her or anything so I kept thinking it was just a bump from wrestling or her shot that would go away , but now it has been almost two weeks and I am starting to get worried. I am going to take her to the vet as soon as possible, but does any one else know why this might have happened to her?
I would not worry too much until you have gone to the vet to have it checked out. While a lump could mean bad stuff, it could also be pretty minor.
Sometimes a bump like this will form from infection of even a very small scratch. It fills with puss, I believe they call it an abcess. If it's this , the vet will probably drain it and give some antibiotics. Also could be a calcium deposit, which is harmless and doesn't need to be removed.
