I have question for ya'll , everyone's dogs on here loves greenies, right? Well I never even heard of them until I read about them on the forum, I finally saw some for the first time at the store the other day for about $18.00 a package. What are these things anyway, that they are so well loved by all your pets and they cost a fortune ( green color=made of money?)They look like those little mint flavored bones you can get at the grocery or pet store for a $1.00. What makes these different? Anyway just curoius as to what my poor middle class dogs are missing out on...
Greenies come individually too, for $1.99 each for the bigger ones and $0.99 for the smaller ones. They are for the teeth, gums, and breath of dogs..and dogs really love them. I try to give Ace and Summer each one greenie a week. I gave them to them on Saturday and Summer ate them both and had green poo. It was kind of gross and I probably shouldnt have shared that =-)
I was a disappointed when I ordered the Petite Greenies through the mail. I got a small baggie of tiny chips of Greenies. They are the consistancy of cat litter. Not sure how to give the tiny litter shaped Greenies to the dogs. I tried hand feeding them, without much success.
In the catalog, it looked like they had a shape, almost toothbrush or dog bone shape, it's hard to tell in the picture. Definately not kitty litter shape.
Did I get defective Greenies or is that the way they think the toy breeds like to get their treats?
i got 48 petite size greenies for $16 online. we give one or two a week, snoopy has death breath. they get them either at nite in their crates, or during the day when he is crates and snowball is not, or else one would eat both and end up like miss summer :)
nylabone makes something similar, mine liked those as well, but it was more cost effective to buy a whole big bunch of greenies.
I got mine at Target and they were cheaper than Petsmart or Petco. I got the petite ones in a package of four for 3.00. They are shaped like tooth brushes. I've never heard of the chips before. The bigger ones are a little more.
Target seems to be cheaper on almost everything. My wee pads are cheaper there, I bought a kong cheaper there and a toy I saw at Petsmart was $3.00 cheaper at Target.
My dog also loves greenies but they make her sick. The only time I have seen her jump off of our bed (she is a 4 month old Min Pin and on the small side) is when I gave her a greenie to chew while I was putting on her collar. She got so excited she ran around the bed and slid down a little on the comforter and jumped off the bed so she could have the whole thing to herself.
gina- it was petvetdirect.com, i think. at the time they (and most everyone) was running a special, get 25% more free. i googled greenies and kept checking around. i hear petedge.com is cheap, and dogsoutfitter.com is slao, there oyu can buy in bulk like a store would. good if you want to stock up, or have many dogs.
