Getting any animal is a life long commitment. Are you ready for this, can you provide the proper vetinary care for the animal, how many hours a day is this animal going to be spending alone,do you own or rent, how much do you know about the breed.
Why do you like our breed? What kind of research have you done on this breed? How long did it take you to decide on our breed? Do you plan on showing? If not, would you spay/neuter your dog? Are you interested in breeding? Have you ever owned a dog before? What breed? Is your other dog spayed/neutered? Can you provide a veterinarian reference? Do you have any other dogs? What breed/size/age? If you don't have any dogs, but have owned them in the past, what's happened to them? Do you have children, and what ages? Who else lives in your home, how do they feel about you getting this breed? Is your yard fenced? How high? Do you plan on your dog being an indoor dog or an outdoor dog? What's your family's activity level? Are you involved in any local breed clubs? How much time during the day will the dog be left alone?
Good topic, ADMIN! :) We ask prospective families the following questions: Where do you live? Have you ever owned, or known, a beagle? If not, what has attracted you to beagles? Please describe your home, yard/acreage and fencing. Do you have children or pets in the home and what are their ages? Have you ever raised a puppy and do you plan to attend puppy kindergarten/home obedience classes? How will your puppy spend it's day? How many hours will it be left alone? Do you have a preference regarding the color or sex of your puppy? Are you looking for a pet puppy or show quality puppy? Is there anything else that we should know in order to match you up with the perfect puppy? How did you hear about us? Prospective families are invited to our home for a kennel visit to meet us and our dogs and to ask LOTS of questions about our dogs and our breed. We encourage families to visit several breeders before selecting their puppy and we are happy to refer them to other responsible breeders. If both parties wish to proceed following the kennel visit, we require a home inspection at the family's home to inspect fencing and identify any potential danger to the new puppy. All pet puppies are sold with a spay/neuter agreement and limited AKC registration. We provide a booklet that includes a 5 generation pedigree, health history, care and feeding instructions, shopping and reading suggestions, training information and baby photos. Most importantly, we offer lifetime support to our families and their new puppy and we require that our beagles are returned to us if the family is unable to keep them. This process is a little more complicated than simply walking into a pet store and buying a puppy. We've intentionally brought these little lives into the world and we owe it to them to ensure that they will have a safe and loving home for the rest of their lives.
