Does anyone know of yorkie breeders from missouri by the name of Bob and Dana? I purchased a beautiful yorkie from a pet store and this is the only info I have on the breeder. I know the sire of my dog is Jack's Micky and the dam is Dana's Mitzi. I want to find the breeder so I can get another dog from the same bloodlines and to find out the family history of my dog. When I called the pet store to inquire about getting another dog they said they did not deal with the breeders anymore. After being persistent with them, they told me the breeder had a serious kennel fire and no longer breeds dogs. I don't know how much of this information is correct but I need help because I really love my dog.
Likely that was something they just made up, to avoid discussing the fact that the animals came from a puppy mill/pmill auction. Breed clubs disown you for selling to pet stores, so I doubt they are someone the reputable breeders know, either. Good luck.
I'm beginning to think you are right. I never owned a dog in my life until JJ. I feel fortunate to have gotten such a good pet. I didn't know until after I purchased him that pet stores usually dealt with puppy mills. I would still love to get another dog and especially one from his blood lines if possible.
Since it is a purebred, find a local breed club or two...Find out when they have their "Specialty" this is a show with only that breed. It is like a doggy supermarket. Walk around the dogs/look at the ring and find one there that is like what you want. Ask about the people that have that dog...Don't mention where you got the other. Just say you are looking for "better", when you are looking for same. Don't talk about price. Just look and meet people and see what you like. Collect a few names. Get magazines on your breed, they should have ads. That dog you got was probably cleaned up by a broker, you don't know what it was like fresh off the farm.
Put in your search bar Yorkie Terrier Magazine. Lots of stuff there. Breed specific...ask them about the people that you are looking for. Don't let rescue snobs blow you off, they probably have a million or so dogs to give you, they may not want to help, I'm guessing. Looking at what they have can't hurt. Your dog may have a sibling in a rescue somewhere. Might get more sympathy when looking for a lost sibling than a pmill breeder...
JJ, if Bob and Dana sold their pups to a pet store they are not the ones you want to buy another dog from. In my opinion no responsible or caring breeder would send their pups off to a pet store to be sold!! The pet store should have the phone number of the breeders if not only as to use this information for business or tax reasons. Sounds like they are trying to hide something or mabey they did get the pup from a auction. Anyway if I were you find I would find a breeder that sells yorkies next time so you can see the parents and talk to the breeder about any questions you might have face to face. good luck
