We own an american staffie,we bought him as a puppy we have had him 4 seven months, the other day we caught some kids calling our dog, they said that it was there missing dog.we told them that it is defnatly not their dog as we have his papers plus photos of his puppyhood.today som guy comes to uor house and tells us that our dog romeo is his dog jock,he was very agressive.we went to the cops and told them about this freak.i now take him everywhere with me or i leave him in the house.i cant understand why they want our dog.he is a big agressive male(towards strangers) i am also worried this guy might try to harm our rottie that wants a piece of him....
Yeah, keep an eye on the dogs. Some people just like to mess w/ you, using the dogs as a way to do it. Get a video camara for the yard. Or a fake one and put a sign on the fence that says they are being recorded. May give you some peace of mind.
Definitely keep an eye on them. They probably want them to fight or use as bait for fighting dogs. I've heard of that b/4. Also watch out for poison or anything like that the dogs could choke on or anything out of place, really. Just can't be too careful these days, with all the sickos running around and all.
Thatís messed up. Luckily, if someone tried to steal my two dogs, they would have 400 pounds of unhappy dog to deal with. If someone did take my dogs, they would attack them. My dogs are not vicious, unless we are being threatened or someone intrudes when we are not home. What do you think your dog would do if someone tried to take him?
hi wishbone, listen, i don't want to get all paranoid here, but do everything within your power to protect your dog if someone has been snooping around. a neighbor of mine had a similar instance with a champion amstaff, and even though she took precautions, her dog was stolen. a group of men in a van jumped a nine foot(!) fence and used a taser gun to knock out her dogs(while the neighbor kids watched, if you can believe that). they took the bitch, left the stud, and she hasn't seen her since. this was a planned heist that someone went to a lot of trouble to carry out. it was on the news and everything, but the dog vanished. you can only imagine how heartbroken she is, not to mention utterly distraught over the fate of her dog. i don't want to see this happen to you, so please, listen to the suggestions and protect yourself and your poochie.
Do you know this guy? If you can, get his name and address and have him served with a restraining order. That way if he comes within so may feet of you or your property, make a phone call and have him arrested.
I think you can classify him as a "Stalker" and they have made stiff penalties for stalkers now.
Wow, that is an incredible story. They really went to some planning to pull that off.
I agree do everything in your power even if you think you are being paranoid. It's worth it. Do you know who these people are? If so I would consider a restraining order. I know these don't hold much water, but it will put him on notice that you know who he is. I would also consider the video thing.
Please be very careful. I know someone who had someone break in their front door to steal a pit puppy. It's terrible what people will do. Make sure you are protected inside and out.
Our dog sleeps in at night,I am just so worried.I will take romeo with me everywhere if i cant ,i will leave him in the house.I also have a very vicous rottie who will attack anyone who is in the yard that is not supposed to be there.I have got a video camera but the battery charger is broken else i would have got it on video.I am 100%sure that if the guy tried to brake in he would get bitten. That is also why we are scared they poison our other dogs .we have a fox terrier and a ridgeback as well.the ridgeback is still a pup,hes name is blade and he is also under lock and key now.our neighbor is on high alert. He will phone us if he sees anyone around.
kittys mom had the right idea, fake it with the video camera. put it in the window even if the batteries are dead, and put a sign out that says the perps are on candid camera. and like i wrote before, even if you have a big old guard dog, he can be subdued. i went to my neighbor's and saw what happened, not to mention her amstaffs are like 110 lbs. (although, of course total sweethearts). i'm sorry, i know you are upset and i don't want to freak you out further, but don't underestimate anyone. and good luck.
We dont know the guy .He looks like a real hard case.If he comes around i will phone the police as well some of my cousins who can teach him a lesson. he is very lucky that we were still half asleep when he tried, becouse my husband might have knocked him around a bit. this weirdo freak said to us that our romeo is his jock and his coming to fetch him.my husband still said to him if it was your dog why is he growling at you...duh
that is just horrible. i would never let your dog out of your sight. unfortunately you may never know when it would be safe to just let him out in the yard for a minute by himself. i really feel for you because i dont know what i would do if anyone ever stole my pets from me. i am glad your rottie is viscious as that may be your best defense. though even a viscious dog is not completely unstoppable.
