Is diamond puppy food any good? I am switching Digger and Elie over to it because of Diggers gas problem. Its one of the first dog foods i have been able to find that has meat as the first ingredient and not corn. I am trying to find a food without corn all together but i havent been able to find one. I did find Diamond lamb and rice. They only have it in the adult formula though. Would it be okay to feed them that? They are about 8 months old now.
Many Diamond formulas are great. Thier Lamb and Rice and Beef and rice formulas have been rated A on the good dog food scale. I myself feed these formulas, and my dogs have done wonderfully on them.
As far as the puppy formula, as long as it has no corn and wheat, it should be OK for your pups. What kind of pups are they? If they are a large breed, they are old enough now to switch to an adult formula. (I switch mine at 6 months) If they are a small breed, I would try to keep them on a puppy formula until they are about 12 months old.
The puppy formula does have corn in it. Just not as much as the other brand i have been feeding. They are mix breed puppies. Mom was a lab mix and dont know what the daddy was. We are thinking pitbull. Elie is about 35-40lbs now. Digger is a little smaller 30-35. I just dont want to switch them over if its to soon.
OMG !! The GAS!!! Diamond is the most fart producing food I have ever come in contact with! We just got Manson from Stacy. I called her to complain that he was the nastiest dog in the world. She had told me earlier in the week that she was going to pick up some diamond at the feed store, so I had gone there and got some to feed to both dogs just so as not to change EVERYTHING in his little world. This is Diamond Maintenance.
Long story short, she told me the reason he is so gasseous is the Diamond food. She changes food pretty often and says Diamond is the worst for gas. And now I am a believer. AND I have a 50 pound bag of the stuff. LOL Anyone wanna come visit? LOL
Here's a list of a lot of great foods with links to their websites.
Also the person who posted the list is incredibly knowledgable about dog foods, and I am sure if you were to reply to her, she (in addition to everyone here!) would be happy to help you find a good one for you dogs.

We give diamond to roxy because that is what the breeder gave her and its what she gives all her minipins and other sorts og toy breeds that she has. Roxy eats diamond puppy formula...which is really good. Roxy does have gas sometimes and its really ugh..smelling...i did not know it was her dog food that did it.
Missy eats Flint River Ranch. Well, she will again once this fart food is gone! If you click on that link I posted earlier, it's listed there and you can go to their website and see what you think of the ingredients. And there's lots on that list that are just as good or better than the FRR.

The gas is probably from just the Diamond Maintenance formula, as it does have corn in it. The lamb and Rice and Beef and rice formulas have no corn or wheat andmy dogs have little to no gas at all. The Maintenance formula is only rated a D- on the dog food scale (poor quality food)while the other 2 I spoke about are an A (excellent quality food).
