Welcome to the forum! My husband would be very jealous of your mum's Bloodhound. lol. He has always loved them. We had one briefly, but we were uneducated and purchased him from a petstore and he had parvo and didn't survive. Great dogs. :)
I have a yellow lab/Australian Cattle dog mix we rescued from death row at the shelter. His name is Hunter of course :) He pretty much looks like a yellow lab with splashes of light tan spots. I also just got a Chihuahua puppy from my hubby for Christmas. She is named Ciella, we call her 'Ella' and she is shortcoat with white and chocolate markings. I am a stay at home mother of 2 toddlers, so between them and the pets they keep me pretty busy :)
Welcome to the forum, in case you haven't heard that. Your dogs are beautiful. I have always thought that about Afghan Hounds. You may have read the other night in chat where I said my neighbors had one, and it was an outside dog, and barked non-stop. It was an adult when they got it and beautiful, but turned into a matted mess due to them neglecting it.
Your dogs are very beautiful!! I've always wondered what it would be like to own such a dog. I would like to own one someday but I know they are far too expensive for me to buy even a pet prospect. By the way, Welcome!!
welcome to the forum, i have a tibeten terrier cross called Tammy, 2 cats called Zippy and Lucky 3 rabbits called Cassie, Milo and Jake, 2 budgies called Billy and Willow, 5 cockateils called Buster, Max, Zara, Tom and Jerry and 5 goldfish. http://community.webshots.com/user/animalgal24
hey icy i noticed in another post of yours you also work in the legal system. how on earth do you manage 2 jobs and showing your dogs ? you must be one busy person. good luck to you. your dogs are very pretty.
No kids is the answer! And a supportive mother and boyfriend! I don't have a normal life for a 25 year old, but I love mine. I'm busy, I travel a lot, I have a houseful of fantastic dogs, what more does a girl want?
I plot my shows out six-12 months in advance and take leave for the ones that I need to. My Sergant thinks I'm a freak, but he gives me the time off. In fact, I'm taking ten days off this month (my first vacation since i've been here) to whelp my bitch. Also we have rotating shifts, so sometimes I'm working midnights when I show, so I come home, show, go home, pass out, and go back to work, chuckle. Plus my friend shows SFT and she and her daughter will handle for me if its a show with majors that I can't get to.
And I can take them with me to the clinic. So they rotate going with me there. I do most of my bathing at night, and let them air dry in their kennels during the night. It's all about working with time.
I'm in MD, so we have a lot of shows very close each year. However, I don't get to as much as I want, so I'm going to ship my cream boy to a handler this year to get him finished. I don't want to, but I also don't want to sit on a dog that can finish in a few months if he has the exposure.
I love standard poodles! I just don't think I could keep them in coat for the ring. My hounds rip around half an acre of land 5 or 6 times a day. They run miles and I doubt I could keep a poodle in coat or I'd have one. I love grooming them, I adore their hair, personality, expressions, intellegence, long legs... hehehe
Welcome. Your dogs are beautiful. I am owned by Oscar, he is a great dane. And soon I will be the proud momma of a harliquin dane. I also have a three year old daughter. Honestly I don't see how you have any spare time. I just have a part time job and I can barely get anything done. Hop eoyu enjoy it here.
icyhound, just thought i'd bring this to your attention... "Its mind is like a sponge, and it can absorb what you teach it. Like a baby, the neutral pathways are still being formed and you can't take advantage of this to create a more intelligent, attentive, loving pet."
did you mean to say "can't take advantage" or "can take advantage." other then that i find your site very informational. I enjoy reading it.
