Since I haven't preached about any pet stores lately, thought I would share this article. So sad. Ug...I hate pet stores...the pet stores in my state that are really bad are also called Pet City. Makes me wonder if they are all the same company.
Go get em! All pet store puppies come from brokers who buy them from puppy mills. You are not "saving" a puppymill puppy by giving them attention at the pets store or by purchasing them. The parents of the puppies will continue to suffer litter after litter, with no TLC, cramped in wire pens for the rest of their lives. By purchasing a pet shop puppy, you are making space for one more ill puppy after another, while the parents don't get a reprieve! Only the lucky parents go to a dog auction in hopes a breed rescue group shows up to bid on it & win the bid. The remainders get recycled back to millers hands. Ughhhhhhhh!
Rhonda- I wasn't saying I was 'saving' one. I think it's a good thing to do to get the poor thing out of the cage and walk him/her to give him/her some fresh air. It gives them a chance to get them out of the cramped cages. And since I am not paying the pet store, it's not supporting them. When I walk the pup, people always ask about him/her and I tell them the truth; He's from a puppymill. And I explain about them.
I'd never buy a puppy from a pet store. But I think giving the poor pups attention and fresh air would mak ethem happier, don't you?
