I have a cat named Furball I kind of like him because my friend gave him to me. Yeah, whatever your probably thinking. My son was acting like he was being stabbed with needles and pins so I did what everyone suggested- I got him a puppy. It was from a breeder kind of place. I guess someone just didnt want there puppies. FLuffy is a pure white JRT who is almost so dumb she makes me laugh.

I got her today because it was the only day I was able to wriggle out of work. She follows me everywhere, my son doesnt even know she's here yet. I want to introduce them but I dont know how because she is following me all over- every corner I turn she's sitting right there and she has that terrier look in her beady eyes. Furball already knows he is boss and he likes to slap her around. Can you just tell me how to make her go away and be with my son instead?

If you let your son do all the training and what not, walks and take full care of the dog it will learn to follow him and depend on him

Oh yes, always let your son give the dog the treats and feed the dog, that way the dog will see the son as the food giver

We got another dog because my husband wanted one of his own... Well, I am a stay at home mom, hubby works all day.. needless to say, he loves hubby, but he follows me wherever i go.

You need to be involved with the dog as well as your son. Its not a bad thing he follows you around...and what do you mean you got him from a breeder or kinda like that....all i can think of is a puppy mill...i sure hope you didnt get him from one of those....And please love your dog and dont say things like that..we dont want him to end up in the pound like other millions of dogs...Good Luck you have to work with your dog!

Rub your son with bacon grease. Dogs love that.
It's better than gel to get his hair into those little spikies.

The bacon grease thing is a great idea, really. Because the dog knows whos in charge, the protector and will always follow you and not your kids. The more involved your son is, eg. brushing, feeding, etc, the more attention he will get, but ultimately, you are mommy.Our dog was supposed to be for the kids, but she is attached to me like velcro. Except when food is involved.

Mostly I was joking. Lone Wolf does not seem the type to enjoy advice. I would give the child little treats in his pocket and teach the two of them to give/take them gracefully. Buying a dog for a child is usually a bad idea, children lose interest in them as fast as any toy. I don't sell pups to people buying one for their kids. I don't mind if they have kids, as long as they are buying the dog, and the 15 yr commitment to it's health and care, for themselves.

We just having fun.
All 'cept Cricket's hubby. She's been experimenting on him with hot oil rubs. Better get that off him, before the dog jumps up and munches on something important.

Back in the good ol' days...

When we walked to school, 5 miles, uphill both ways...
When we rode dilolaurs to school and chipped our lessons on slate...

I really did grease my oldest with bacon grease, sort of. Actually it was ham fat, and just like my Grannie who raised 9 kids up north, by what is now the Tar Sands project. I would rinse off a piece of rind (pigskin) after I had trimmed it well and give it to him to teeth on.

Now that I look back I always wondered why the dogs liked him so much.

Sorry, kind of got off on a tangent there. Yes if the child is old enough get them to do as much for the puppy as is possible, feeding, walking or giving treats. Even if they are too young, hand everything you can to your child to give to the puppy, food dishes etc.

Uh..the bacon grease issue. The dog jumped onto my son's head. Yes, very attached to him but he may need to quit wearing a hat.

Fluffy just will not let go of his head. I'm damn right serious. You can quit laughing now. Any chance she gets she jumps off the highest perch (which is usually a table or a shelf) and attacks his greased hair. Ha ha ha. What I mean by attacks is she or he or whatever clings to Ronin's hair like velcro and just...stays there. I'm going to go insane if someone doesnt tell me how to make the little bitch leave him alone!! (exuse my language but is the term for female dog.) I think Fluffy is a female. ANd I do think I got her from a puppy mill.

How does it matter where I bought her?? She's tearing Ronin's head off. SHe wont stop. I gave him three showers today. I know I sound like a stupid little kid saying this but now I want the opposite advice. First I wanted her to attach to him but now she's killing him. *falls off chair laughing* Alright. Better go put the dog in her crate or else she's going to keep barking at him. (I dont know why she is doing this but she is acting like he is a giant walking piece of bacon that she's trying to eat up.)

First she starts yipping at him whenever she sees him and kind of growling in a puppyish way. She never used to do that because when I brought her in and Ronin was acting like he was in a different world she just kind of ignored him and stuck to me. Now yesterday when I put the bacon grease in his hair she just started barking at him and she has been doing so ever since. I just put her in a crate and put a blanket over it so she thinks it's night time and she slows her barking once Ronin goes into a different room and goes to sleep. Yeah, kind of like a parrot. But when I'm not there to grab her before she starts her "jumping routine" she jumps up on the sidetable by the kitchen table and hops up there and prepares for take off. Then when he isnt aware of her (he supposes she's gone when she stops barking) which is ususally when he is doing his homework on a desk, she leaps onto his head and he freaks out and screams. SHe's really light so it doesnt really hurt but when she lands- ouch. Along with the teeth hitting the back of his neck it's a pretty painful position.

Red nosered?? How can you "love it" when someone or something follows you wherever you go. Doesnt it annoy you?? It annoys me like hell. Always a dog sitting between your legs, with terrier- like eyes. Snuffling around and appearing there every time you look down. I've only had her for nearly two days and she is driving me TO HELL.
