Piper my 5 month old puppy will lick and lick Tiggers ears. Like I said Piper is 5 months and Tigger is 7 years old. Tigger must have the cleanest ears and face around. I'm just curious.I think it's strange . None of my other dogs have done this.By the way Tigger absolutely hates it,but she'll tolerate it.
My 3 year old chi/terrier, Willow, (male) and my 2 year old papillon/corgi, Kicho-Na, (female) both lick my 14 year old pug, Oreo's (male) ears. Although Willow is almost obssesive about it. Also, Kicho-Na will lick Willow's face and ears, but is never the recipient of the licking. I find it stange that Kicho-Na never gets licked.
my pyreneese licks everyone's ears. my other dogs ears and also my cats ears. my one cat will actually go up to my pyr and bow his head just so the pyr will lick his ears and clean his face. grooming between animals is quite normal in the animal world. just watch monkeys. they groom each other all the time.
Good point sue! Something to think about, especially if the dog in question has floppy ears to hold the moisture in. We use baby wipes and cotton pads to clean and dry all our dogs' ears. I make my dogs quit it when I catch them because it's just plain gross, to me.
all my dogs do this. i don't understand it but they do.they'll even "groom" each other, even our male dogs do this to each other.i just think it is something some dogs do, especilly if you have more than 2 dogs in the house. its a "pack" thing i think.
my pug cleans my labs ears every night at bedtime. my pug is the only one who does this. i have heard from other pug owners that theirs do this, too. i do keep an eye on my lab's ears for moisture problems, too.
my boss' labs do this to each other, usually right after she has cleaned their ears. do have to watch for the moisture especially in those floppy ears. i think its kind of endearing though, maybe they just like grooming each other like their mother did.
