okie dokie, cool. =) Should I start giving it to her like a month before spring, until a while after fall? it gets too cold for mosquitoes in the winter. If I don't want to buy it at a vet, do I need some kind of proof if I want to order it online or something?
I use Interceptor and have for years. I have to buy 2 boxes because of the difference in their weights. I get mine thru the vets because I don't know how others are but my vet put up a sign right after all this started about ordering thru discount places and they charge for the prescription. So, I just stayed with getting them from the vet.
What kind of dog is it? Some dogs especially collies can not have anything with ivermectin in it as it can affect their nervous system and cause serious problems or death. I would also be careful of some of the web site heartworm preventitives as there is an ongoing problem with fake product being sold. I use only interceptor

If you are worried about price, discuss it with yoru vet where to get it from.
When someone must order, we recomend vet centric, as they work with the clinic.
PetMeds is a bunch of bullys and jerks. They harass the clinic and then lie tot eh owners that are we being uncorperatve. Well all prescriptions must go through the doctor, so if they call saterday night and the doctor is not back till tuesday, its not happening. Then they try to get the staff to approve teh prescriptions. Its a pain. They even had a client send a complaint form (which they sent the clinent) to the state board of vets saying my doctor was not helping and trying not to allow her to get meds from other soruceses.
I have heart worm medicine for my jack russell terrier. I give her 1 a week. I perfer to use hartvitimans and de-wormers i find them very effective. They are very simple to use and just take a few hours to start working
I use Revolution. It's to help with fleas, ticks, heartworm, ear mites, skin mites, and I think, worms. I think it cost me $11-$14 just for one dose each month, for each of my dogs. Of course, they all are in different weight ranges, so that's a factor for price, too.
I use Interceptor for Oscar. For a 6 month supply it cost like 69 bucks. That might sound high but that is for a 150 pound dog. And I buy from my vets office. It would cost about the same through any online thing.
And for flea/tick I don't use one. We have been real lucky and have never found a flea/tick on Oscar. My backyard doesn't have flees/ticks. I am really lucky on that because I live in Texas.
we use hartgard plus year round. the vet is 3 times the online places but they price match. and i get advantix from them, but only from first thaw to first freeze. i dodnt try to find that cheaper, but this year i will since im buying for two, that gets expensive.
