Kernal had ring worm on his back by his butt. The vet gave me some lotion to put on it 3 times a day and it has cleared up and the fur has started growing back.He only had one spot so the vet told me do not bath him because it would spread. The vet determinned that he got it from some straw that I bought from a farmer and I took the straw out of all the houses and kennels right away so no one else got it but ny question is do any of you know how long exactly before the ring worm is dead or whatever? I would like to give him a bath if it is ok now but I want to be sure its dead or gone or whatever so it dont spread. He had one spot by his but about the size of a quarter and at first the hair all stuck up in a perfect circle and then like about 3 days later the perfect circle was bald, now the fur is back cut you can still see the circle shape because its not as long as the rest of his fur. So I guess I am asking do you think I am safe to give him a bath now?
My vet told me that I should shampoo and gave me shampoo called Malasebo and some pills. You can get it from a vet or the internet. My understanding is that it takes 4-6 weeks to clear up. I have heard both, don't shampoo and do shampoo from people but most of the people said yes to the shampoo. It has been 6 weeks and my one yorkie still has a crusty spot on her head but it has not spread to other dogs ( I shampooed them just in case) thank GOD! If you are going to shampoo I would for sure use the Malasebo shampoo ( it has the same meds. in it as the topical stuff) for ringworm and not over the counter medicated shampoo.

Yes that is the best shampoo. You can purchase it at Revival pet supply online. I brought one two cats almost 3 years ago covered with ringworm and it spreaded not only to all my dogs but to us as well. You can also use the anti fungal creams, spray, and oniments purchased at any drug store or walmart. It is labeled for athletes feet. I used them all. And you have to wash everything with very hot water and bleach. Also you will want to vacuum alot to make sure you get all the spores.
Thanks I will have to ask the vet about that shampoo. The vet told me since there was only one spot on him that I shouldnt give him baths because I could spread it to the rest of his body. I used a lotion from the vet and it cleared up fast. His hair is coming back so I am gonna bath him but to be on the safe side I am gonna try and get that shampoo.Chizz.. yeah the vet told me that if we get it to use Tinactin athleats food cream. I am glad we did not get it and none of the other dogs did either. I feel like I am crazy , I keep pinning all the dogs down and searching their body the dogs look at me like they are confused. I also pinned down my 4 year old to look over her body and make sure she didnt have any.lol I was gonna wait for my b/f to go to sleep and get him too. lol
