It's so nice to see so many rave over a mixed breed yet so disappointing to see some support the puppymillers and backyard btreeders by spending 500+ on a "Puggle" instead of going to their local shelter for a "Puggle or some other cross-breed for $65.

Hi

I am 13 yrs of age/female and i wish to adopt a dog wen i am 15-16 yrs old. I am looking for a younger dog now [months-1 yr] and i wish to as i say put that dog on layaway. I am looking for a puggle. It does not matter if the parents had cherry eye or other hereditary problems just as long as the dog is adorable! I want to adopt a dog not ge tit from a pet store. I have one requirement that the puggle that you refer to me [if you do] has a longer nose than that of a pugs. I have a pug and he has very bad respatory problems. Sex does not matter. Boy or Girl is fine. I am going to need a housebroken, slightly trained pet. Scrict training is required because I live in a high traffic area and I will need just to be able to say 'SIT' 'STAY' and 'COME' so I can prevent an accident. I really appreciate anyone that responds to this message.

P.S. By the time i am ready to adopt i would like the puppy to have been spayed/neutered. I am willing to pay a little extra but i do not want to have to go through the whole veteranary process and they say to get the puppy fixed at a younger age.

P.S.S. Cherry eye is easily fixed with medication or surgery so dont worry, nothing is too serious!

PLEASE do not look in petstores for a puggle, i just went today to get dog food and saw a puggle in the puppy section..it did not look healthy at all, so i would stay away from that and look in your local shelter :)

We have bred puggle to puggle.. the puppies all look "puggley", some more beagle, some more pug.

The daddy was traditional sable color, the mommy was all black.

By the way; I would like to point out the puggles are NOT a mutt; they are a hybrid or cross breed. There are plenty of happy puggle owners who would love to see them become an established breed. They are not easily found in shelters, as it needs to be a beagle mommy and pug daddy to get the true puggle look.

Oh lordy lordy! Do I smell a troll! It was most likely the trolls own mill trying to get free advertising. They need to just go back to their mill forum & take their mill buddies with them.

"Puggles" are NOT hybrids but instead a mixed breed, a mutt.

I'm looking for a puggle breeder near Connecticut. Will travel up to 5 hours from Hartford to meet with the right breeder.

My Puggle is now 3 years old. His name is Charlie. I have had 12 dogs before Charlie. I would never trade him in for another dog.

My wife who did not want me to buy the dog because he was not normal....hates it when I tell people that story.

He never chewed on shoes....
Had him house broken in a matter of a few weeks....
He is extremely healthy....
No howling....
Very Loyal...
Even at three....all of the kids in the neighbor still think he is the coolest.
Lives well with our cockerspaniel...
He is my shadow...
He weighs 30lbs...
No regrets

I have a ten and a half month old puggle puppy although I usually describe him as a pug beagle mix because no one knows what the heck a puggle is. My husband and I did a lot of looking into dogs before we decided to get a puggle. We wanted a small dog because we have an appartment; although we came very close to adopting a friends 3 yr old rotwieler who was just was sweet as can be but decided against it because it would be fair to her. Anyways, after looking around we choose a puggle because I had grown up with a beagle and my husband had grown up with a pug. We didn't want the health problems of the pug or the high activity level of the beagle. The result was pur purchasing a puggle from a local farmer. I assure that although we paid for the dog he was not a BYB. Attila (our puppy) is a very sweet little dog. He does not bay like a beagle and actually barks very little. He did like to chew on almost anything he could when we first got him however he didn't ever destroy anything like Aceyfacey2 described. He has since gotten out of that habit and limits his destruction to his stuffed animals. He was very easy to potty train and is a very quick learner. He loves everyone and will pretty much let anyone pet him. He also plays well with other dogs. I would however only recommend getting a puggle if you have a lot of time to spend with it. Attila requires a lot of attention and at least one long walk a day or else he will race around the house like mad. Like any dog if you have the patience and attention required to train it, a puggle can be a great pet.

I have to say that I got Dre from a Pet Store. My friend and I were going to dinner for a girls night and we both love animals. Before dinner we went into the store just to look and I saw my Dre and his fellow puggle friend running around the playpen they had out in the middle of the store. Once I saw him I went back the following day 2 times to see him and then again the following morning. I fell in love with him. Had I had really known about puggles I would have loved to adopt a puppy. But he was the first puggle I ever saw. You can't help falling in love. He cost an arm and a leg but I have no regrets. I loved him the minute I saw him and he wagged his tail each time I came to the store to see him before my boyfriend and I agreed to take him home with us. I'm a firm believer of adopting from shelters I couldn't help myself.
I'd love to post a picture on this site, anyone know how?

Puggles are not a mutts and not hybrid. A mutt is technically a dog that has more than two different breeds. A hybrid is two different species. A puggle is considered a mixed breed.

Ditto! Puggles are mutts, not hybrids.
Mixed breeds. Mongrels.
To fully develop a breed, it takes about 20 years. How long has the pug/beagle mix been around? Like the cockapoo (been here WAY more than 20years) , and chi-poo, pom-lab, and all those mixes, if someone REALLY wanted to make them a breed, they could have.

My wife and I are picking up Buddy the Bug's http://www.trentonroadtakeout.com/Buddy%20the%20Bug.htm new sister on Saturday. We have been looking for a female Bug puppy for awhile and finally found a cutie. Check her out on Buddy's web page.
We don't care if the Puggle or Bug is consider a breed or a mix, they are great dogs.

I have an 11 month old black Puggle and he is the best thing EVER!!! He loves everyone and everything. He is also great with other animals. I have a horse and he comes out to the farm with me and runs with the horses. Mine got bigger than they said though. He is 34 pounds but not fat at all. My family loves him sooooo much my cousin ordered one and is getting it on friday. I highly recommend the breed and the ones who are complaining and downing the people for getting them are CRAZY!!! They don't even have a clue on what they are missing out on!! I am going to post some pics of my boy too!!

New here, but isn't it interesting that NONE of the dogs that the "puggle" owners are posting about are over a 2yrs or so old? Many are under a year.

I think I'll go breed a snuggle...................

I've met people with puggles older than mine and they have no problems. I don't see why people are annoyed that there are others in the world that enjoy having a puggle and I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of getting something that they wanted. BUT whatever to each his/her own. How do you post pics on this site?

Mixed breeds come from bad breeders. The breeders do not health test, and do not select the breeding stock carefully. They are not knowledgable about the genetics, which can only lead to MORE health problems in the puggles or any mixed breeds for that matter. Most mixed breed breeders do not do any activities such as agility, obedience, or even have their dogs CGC and TDI tested. Those things cost money, and they are only breeding for the money. They consider activities of the such only a waste of money when, in fact, they are far from it.

These are only *some* of the reasons why most mixed breed breeders are bad.

About my Puggle. I have to disagree with the lady who said they are bad. My Puggle is almost 10 months old and yes she does howl that is true, but the rest seemed way off except for the chewing. She does chew, but not as bad as the other dog. She is a loving dog and has a great personality. She is smart as as whip, but can be a bit of a clutz. She house trained pretty quickly. She is a great dog! I could not ask for a better pet.
