Hi
I have a 4 month old puggle. his name is thunderstorm. he is the most loveable hardy and sturdy dog i've ever had. i also have a 6 month old jack russel and and 8 yr old chi dog. if i had to reccomend a dog it would be a puggle. he was bred in wisconsin and i bought him from puppy paradise in new york. he is wonderful. he barks like a beagle but only at chow time. he never whines even when i put him in his crate at night, house breaking is another story. but he is still a puppy. and puppies take a lot of time and patience.

I have a 10 month old Puggle, and she is driving us crazy. She won't listen, she constantly jumps, she won't come when called...She is super hyper- We are ready to give up on her...She is crate trained, but won't let us know she needs to go out when she's inside...She "hunches"(for lack of a better word) my daughters leg- like a male dog would do- Has anyone ever heard of this? I need ideas- because I am really running out of patience.

I have an adorable, sweet puggle named Miles. He looks exactly like a pug, in fact, the vet thought he was a pug!

He is well behaved and was easy to housebreak. He only barks when he's playing, otherwise, he sees people outside and around our house and he just stares at them quietly. It's kind of weird, actually!

The one problem is, he keeps biting/nipping at my parent's and my husband's parent's dogs. He thinks he's playing but really he is hurting them. My in-laws have a sharpei, Gus, who has big jowls and Miles just grabs onto them and won't let go. He has drawn blood SEVERAL times. Gus won't yelp or do anything, he's just a puppy, too (a 40 lb. puppy...). It's almost like Gus just doesn't care that he's biting him, he's just having so much fun! So Miles never gets the clue to stop biting.

He used to bite/nip at our hands constantly but he has finally almost stopped doing it. We just kept doing the tap on the nose and saying "no biting!" thing.

But he can't continue to bite the other dogs and we don't want him to think it's OK to bite other dogs. So what do we do? We've tried saying "NO" loudly when he bites at Gus, and tried tapping him on the mouth w/ our hands or a newspaper and saying "no biting" but it's just not working. Any ideas anyone??

I was going to ignore this topic,but I cant resist. Have you noticed that the OP has not posted again????I am NOT against mixed dogs.But i am against buying a mixed.when you can get one out of the shelter. Do not tell me you cant get a puppy mixed breed dog from a shelter. I have fostereed a cockapoo,scoodle,and schnoodle from shelters all were 8 week old puppies.You can find many puggles in shelters to.We just had a 4 month old female puggle come in the other day. and a year old Chug chi/pug come in yestereday.Im sure your dogs are great.But this is where thier parents came from. this is only for the pet store puppies owners.

I can understand acciedental litters but not breeding a mixed dog on purpose. If you guys remember a few years ago everybody only wanted purebreds.mixes were looked down on! this is only a fad. Just like the dalmations,dobermans,rottweilers,german shepherds.collies.if you want more sites I can give you them.

I'm surprised that sharpei hasn't eaten that dog yet. My grandparents peis were what helped me put our husky in line,she mouthed everything.

There has been a lot of fighting over the correct titles of non-purebred dogs. I don't know if this helps, but it was taken from the website of the mixed breed dogs club of america, which is cited on the AKC website.

Technically, a Mixed Breed is the offspring of two different purebreds. The mating of a purebred and a mixed breed results in a litter on Mongrels. And, if both parents are either mixed breeds or mongrels, the pups are Mutts.

Hi everyone, been reading this stuff and laughing. Sounds like were all just a little lonely, and need to argue about something. I think the purebred snobs are jealous because someone else is doing something different and better, or maybe those breeders know they are loosing money now. My momma always told me a mixbreed makes a better dog, I think she's right. And to you shelter people, I tried two different dogs from there, this past summer, and it was a nightmare! They bit my children! Maybe this kind of behavior problems is why they are there in the first place. It's none of anyones business where we get our dogs or what kind we choose! It's whats best for our family... I will not put my kids in danger for your guilt-trip you want to put on people. I am so happy for you puggle people, I can't wait to be one too. I have four children crying for me to get them one, we saw one at a petstore, but I couldn't afford it. So if anyone out there knows where I can find a breeder hopefully in Ohio that will sell one for $500 or less please let us know.


p.s. this may be one of God's best little suprises...

We are from St. Louis also. We have a 1 year old puggle we got from a breeder in northeast missouri outside Kirksville. Puggles are a handful, like any active puppy. Our puggle, Mackenzie, has taken the full year, but she is a pretty good puppy now. She is very excitable, and loves attention from everyone. She is good with all people and all dogs that will play with her.

We struggled over the idea of buying a 'designer mut', but in the end we found the right dog for us. She doesn't howl, and she doesn't have nearly the breathing problems that pugs do. She does snore a little and seems to whine more than any other dog I have ever had, but she is adorable.

Take your time getting info about the breed, because they will eat anything they can find, They will get into anything and have a tendancy to be very stubborn. But if after all that you want to get a puggle, shoot me an email and I will give you the info on the breeder where we got Mackenzie.


My sister bought a puggle in Los Angeles and came to visit me and I feel in love with her puggle. I would definitely be interested in one. Can you please send me some information on where to get one.

Puggles are great, are first Buddy, is a year and 1/2 old, more beagle then pug. Baby is 5 months old and all black. She is more pug then beagle and will not be as big as Buddy. It took Buddy a couple of weeks to warm up to Baby, but they get along great now. I would recommend a puggle to anyone who wants one. You must have a good fenced in yard for a puggle like Buddy, because once he get a scent of a rabbit he is off.

lol mfbeer, i know what you mean about the rabbit chasing thing. Summer knows the words 'rabbit' and 'squirrel'. If you say the word she jumps in the window to look for it and if we're outside and she sees one...forget it, she will pull my arm out of the socket to chase it. lol.

Sado... Did you get your Puggle before you decided to breed them? Just curious! I am considering the same idea!! I will be getting my Puggle the first week in January and can't wait!! And to all the others looking for puggles... puggle.org has listings for "Puggles for Sale" and also "Puggle Wanted".. There are a lot more wanted, than for sale!! Imagine that!! I was on a waiting list for one that would have delivered my first Puggle in February, and with just a few more minutes researching I found a breeder in Iowa with a newborn litter that will be ready for shipping early january. I see people in Ohio that want Puggles and I find people in Ohio looking to sell Puggles, it amazes me how I can see all of this, but these people that are so close together cannot! I cannot wait to get my bestest gal, now if I could just think of a good name for her!!

we have a 10week old female we put her in a crate from day one messed it one time . we put her in her crate to sleep at night to sleep till she gets out of puppy stage sleeps all night now first week was long but now she good at sleeping all night.
