I must say I agree with #91 regarding Puggles. My puggle Louie, celebrated his first birthday on Dec. 9th. We got him when he was 2 months old. Although a hand full at times, he is truly a honey. He was not easy to train and hyper at times but lovable as can be. He loves everyone and all other dogs. This is the first dog I have ever had and a good choice he was. However, I do have one question. When we bought him we were told that the average weight for puggles was between 13 and 18 pounds.Everything I have read says the same. However, Louie is much larger than the average puggle not only in weight but in length and height. It looks exactly like a mini mastiff. He weights 44lbs. No fat, solid mussle. Can anyone explain this to me. Although much larger than I expected and wanted I wouldn't trade him for the world. We are all crazy in love with him.

Oh my. I wasn't really going to reply to this, but I really cannot resist. This is to all of the many people who have posted on here that know nothing about the world of purebred dogs and good, honest purebred dog breeders...First of all, a good breeder is breeding their fancy because they are trying to improve that breed. NOT to make money. So you must not use the lame excuse that breeders are mad or jealous about these fad mix breeds because of loosing money. Second of all, it is quite pathetic that in a year or so we will soon have to make rescue organizations now for the new fad mixed breed dogs not to mention the thousands of breed rescues there are already in this country. Thirdly, purchasing a puppy because it looks cute in a petstore window is foolish (this is coming from someone who worked in a petstore for 10 years). The breeders who breed these dogs, and then actually sells them to be put in a store definately didn't care or know that much about its breeding stock to begin with. Would you trust that with your children anymore so than a dog you met on the street? At any rate, if anyone is trying to make money with these fad breeds-its the so called breeders who think breeding is about putting two dogs together and coming up with a new catchy name for them. People that are breeding mixed breeds outta be a shamed of themselves. They are no better than the people that breed unregistered pure bred dogs. They are unregistered for a reason-the breeder who bred the litter did not find any qualities worthy of passing on to a next generation, therefore they requested that AKC or whatever organization not allow them to register any offspring. It's called limiting registration and we would be far better off if people would start respecting this. All these people are doing is producing more competition for shelter dogs and animals that are doomed to be euthanized. And yes, these special little puggles, chuggles or whatever they are calling them TODAY, will be in a shelter in a year or so because mom thought they were cute and would be good for the kids. Hey, guess what, kids don't know what is best for them. Don't let them pick the breed of dog you purchase or adopt. Do some research FIRST!!!

I have puggles for sale and they are beautiful! They are listed under pugs on this website. They will be available around Valentines Day. I live in Oklahoma

Why do I have Puggles? I breed a male pug to my minature female beagle because so many people want a pug and don't realize the health issues they have and the trouble most pug females have during labor. Pugs are great dogs and have great personalities but not easy to care for. My puggles are small and have pug personalities short beagle body with pug face. They are adorable and do not have the breathing and birthing problems most pugs have. They are GREAT!

i have a puggle she is the most sweet thing she lets my boys play rough with her and she lets them love on her i also have min pin that will not let the boys com aroound her very often to play so in my opinon the temerment of the puggle i wounld notr change my husband likes big dog i like small so we compermised and studied on puggles for what was out there and they said to be good with children and other dogs and so far they are right just because you have mixed breed or pure breed you still dont know what type of dog you are getting

My puggle arrives on Monday!! Can't wait to get her straight from the breeder in Iowa. Richard Jones, breeder of puggles has been a wonderful person to deal with and he has a brand new litter that arrived last week that will be ready to ship in late February. He had an ad at hoobly dot com but I don't see it anymore. Let me know if you are interested in one of his puggles and I will send you a picture of mine and let you know how to contact him.. I cannot wait til Monday!!!

Congrats! My puggles were born on Christmas 4 boys and 1 female. They are adorable. I hope you love yours as much as I do. It's going to be hard to let my babies go. I'm already thinking about keeping one of mine.

We love our puggles Buddy and Baby. Buddy is more Beagle and Baby is more Pug. She is more of a little sweet heart, while Buddy is a little more independent and moody. But they get along great and are fine with anyone that comes in the house.

I purchased a male puggle "Oliver" who was born on the 15th of August of 2005. At night he sleeps in my bed and lays his head on my neck to sleep, anywhere close to me since he loves to cuddle. He wont need to go outside to go "potty" if we are in bed, but if i let him run around the house he will do his duty. When we are upstairs, he will sit at the top of the stairs and stare at you without making a sound and then after a while if you don't go let him out he will go on the rug in the downstairs living room. The problem is, it's like the boy who cried wolf. I will end up taking him out several times a night only to have him dig up the yard or eat the snow (must feel good since he's teething). I end up spending my whole night taking Oliver out to go "potty" when all he wants to do is dig or eat snow....it's so frustrating! He also chews everything in sight eventhough he owns a million different chew toys. Having to watch him so he doesn't chew up anything he shouldn't be and making sure he doesn't decide to go in the house is the most frustrating thing right now. He has lost 4 teeth so far and he's 41/2 months old, does anyone have any idea how long the teething stage lasts? Or if anyone has potty trained a puggle, how long did it take? I know it's different for every puppy, but just to hear about other puggle puppies that are now fully functioning puppies would really ease my mind. I'm scared he will never grow out of this stage.

Baby my black puggle is 6month old and has been about 99 percent potty trained for about 3 weeks. We have a doggie door for our puggles and she will go outside by herself and do her business. We try to constantly say outside Baby make good girl and she will listen, but maybe once or twice a week she pee's in the house if she is to busy to go outside. Never does number 2 in the house. Buddy the 1 1/2 year was more of a house chewer, but Baby if fine. We can leave them both alone for hours and they will not to any damage. We close off a good chunk of the house to them. The only problem with a doggie door, is they rip our small trees apart and bring in the branches to chew.

Baby can go from 8:30 pm to 7 am without having to go outside. If she does, she will start licking our faces in the middle of the nite.

Buddy and Baby are adorable...I really like the black color, hadn't seen that before. The expression on Buddy's face when he is wearing the Santa's hat is priceless!!

Hi everyone, i was reading most of the comments posted about the behaivor of your puggles. Well I have the same problem!

My friend had to give her puggle,Penelope, away and my mom and i agreed to watch her while she found a home. Well as most of you who have puggles would expect, we fell in love with her and decided to take her ourselves. She is great she is totally loveable and energetic and just what we needed to move into our new home.

Everything was great until one day we discovered the reason she was given to us, she was pregnant! She had 5 puppies who all have been given to good homes, but it seems like ever since then its been hell!

She chews absolutely anything she can fine. So bad to the point that we are currently looking for a new home for her. I am absolutely in love with her and i really couldnt imagine giving her away. If any of you have suggestions as to how i can fix this or if this breed is all the same please let me know!

Hi,
After trying Bark Busters and Petsmart training with Buddy our 1 1/2 puggle we gave up training him. The thing that worked for us with Buddy, is a training collar. It has tone and shock. We may have used the shock button 1 time in 100. When he is barking out the front window or won't come, we just hit the tone button on the collar he will stop. He knows after tone there could be a shock, so he listens. The tone works without having to shock him and we felt bad the few times we had to shock him, but we had it on the lowest setting. Our biggest fear with Buddy is if he get out without a leash he is off running. That is the Beagle in him. Maybe the collar will help with your problems.

Hi,

My name is Sulley, I am a male puggle 2 plus years old my mom says I'm chubby and need to go on a diet. I don't think my 46 plus pounds are too much considering my muscular build. It may be that I just love to lounge around all day on the couch and have my belly rubbed.

Mom always feeds me well and in return I follow her everywhere. I don't like it when Dad or the kids want to hug her, because I get just a tad jealous and want to lick them all to death.

My idea of a great day is get up around 8:00 take a lazy stroll around the back yard, mark my territory from that pesky lab next door, have my morning biscuit and retreat to the couch.

About all this celebrity stuff -- hey I'm just a run of the mill mut and if you can take my snoring and occasional passing of GAS !!!! I'm the best companion anyone can ask for.

wantapuggle.. Yes, I do know of a breeder in the St. Louis area. If you consider Osceola, Iowa the area, it is not too far is it. I just received my puggle from him last night and oh my, what a joy!! Kaila arrived and slept thru the night and we have had one wonderful day, already three pee-pees outside!! Yea!! Hi, I recently purchased a Puggle in December 2005 and she arrived here a week before Christmas. She is so adorable and our whole family fell in love with her and all talked of getting one. But, I told them if you are not ready for another infant in your house, do not get one. Puggle puppies are very demanding of your attention and do not want to be alone. It is much like having a new baby. She woke up whining every two hours at first and is just now settiling in and waking up once in the middle of the night after she has already done her business. But I still put her out and clean up her mess and then put her back to bed. They say that the puggle isn't yappy....WRONG!! Mine is as yappy as can be and only get's yappier when you tell her to stop. She thinks that everything is fair game to chew on, which I know is puppy behavior, but she chews on your hands and feet and bites on my kids ankles and it hurts with those little purana teeth. I am only hoping she outgrows this biting thing and it isn't a real sign of aggressiveness. Because if she is in your lap and biting on you and you tell her, no biting, she starts yapping and will actually lunge at your face to try and nip at you. Other than that she is real sweet. When she winds down, she just wants to cuddle and be right there with you. But anyways, if anybody owns a much older Puggle, could you please tell me if these are just phases she is going trhough or am I looking forward an unruly puppy?
