I think it is disgusting and abhorrent that anyone would contribute to the sale of pets. It's because some low life trashy people are too freaking lazy to get a real job---so they have to make money on the backs of animals--- which results in overpopulation and over breeding---which causes sickly animals. There are over 80,000 cats that are put down annually. People should be encouraged to adopt pets...if they truly loved pets---that's what they would really do. But in their greed, snobbishness----and selfishness--they have to have a "Certain Kind of Pet"--how sick!! I see you and anyone that contributes to this pimp trade---as pigs yourself!!
Well i think ppl are spaying and neutering more. At least in my area. There are far less ads for mixed breed mutts. There are problems still but ppl are getting the picture and more and more animals are spayed and neutered. There is more of a problem with cats but i still feel is less of a problem and it will get better with time. Omaha, ne just passed a law that anyone inside the city limits has to get a breeders license and pay a 100.00 fee. That includes cats and dogs. I dont know if it is working but its a step in the right direction. I have seen really rich ppl with huge houses have puppy mills. So its not just lasy ppl.
Freedom for animals are you an animal rights person? Just wondering? I always wondered how those animal rights ppl live everyday? Since they hate animals being killed for meat. 45% of every animal killed for food is used for products other than food. I wonder how they wash there hair, brush their teeth, drive down the road. Since almost every product we use has animal products in it. It was a question I always wanted to know.
Copy/pasted from another thread, it's me that said it though: The reason not to be against ALL breeding is that if we do not have dogs being bred by responsible people to breed standard, the differences between breeds would become less. As it is, you can somewhat know what the basic adult size of your cocker spaniel will be, have an idea whether he will be a good dog for children, know what his grooming will consist of, and what health problems they may be more prone to. Without good breeders, all dogs would be mixed. Eventually it would be difficult to say what they were mixed with, if nobody is creating any to breed standard. You could not get a puppy and have a resonable expectation of whether it will be large or small, expected characteristics.
I think very, very few people should be breeding and the ones that are should be really tough on themselves in deciding which dogs are appropriate to breed. That is a whole new topic, but of all the people I know both in person and from message boards, I can think of only two breeders of APBTs that I consider good breeders.
PS I am not and will never be a breeder and have never "purchased" a dog.
You know, the last time I looked I lived in a free country so therefore even though most of my money goes to the government I believe I have the right to do what I wish with the rest and that is if I want to by a certain dog I will.
Would you stop bashing people for buying from a breeder? You guys are the pigs! You make me sick when you bash someone for spending their money how they want it. It's THEIR money, stop terrorizing them!!! SICK PIGS!!!!!! I would never buy from a breeder personally, but I still agree with everyone on spending their money in their own way.
You know what I think is digusting-people who choose to keep their children in daycare all day and come home to complain about breeders and don't spend time with their children. I am sorry if I offend anyone who would like to be a stay at home parent-as I know your heart is in the right place. I seem like a very opinionated person lately, but it seems that people really like to breeder bash, but consider that we manipulate our children so that we can go off and make money. Now tell me, that I am a bad person because I responsibly breed and am able to stay home with my son and place our puppies in loving homes.
This is the same thing as saying that all pits are bad dogs. Although I don't like breeding because of the amount of euthanization all the time...I used to be a breeder. I was responsible and caring and made sure not to overbreed my dogs. The puppies only went to very well researched homes with a written contract that stated if for any reason the new home could not keep the dog for any time in it's entire life it had to be returned to me without fail. Puppy mills are what give breeders a bad rep

I think you are missing the point:
I'm sorry but I have a real problem with people spending money on an industry that doesn't care about the dogs health & well being. I can not fathom any normal human being with any compassion wanting to pay money to any pet shop / broker or mill to support the animal abuse the parents live through daily! Sure little Fuzzy goes to a home but mom & dad "the livestock/ property" as they are called live in horrid inhumane conditions with the wonderful USDA inspectors showing up with the blind eye once in a blue moon. Remember the USDA is over our food sources. That's pretty scary once you think about it.
Now on another softer note, I'm not saying all breeders are bad breeders. You HAVE to do your homework & research to find the ones that truly care about the health & well being of the parents & puppies.
See thread posted under Designer Dogs 3rd page, my last post with this info. It also includes videos on that thread showing the conditions of mill / broker dogs. Graphic Warning! If after reviewing the video's (Feb has better ones) you can honestly say there is nothing wrong with people "spending an outrageous amount" for an unhealthy mill industry pup that you are supporting by paying that price then you seriously have a problem we can't help you with.
Well despite everyone's efforts to sit here and bash people online your point is never going to get anywhere. So instead of getting P.O.ed at everyone here go do something about it, if you feel you can.
