I was thinking about getting one of those automatic litter boxes. I have 5 cats and they can get kinda stinky in the middle of the day when we're not home to scoop. Right now I have two litter boxes right next to each other but we're redoing the area they are in so I thought it might work good.
A lot of people on my Ragdoll board don't like them because they said that cats have been injured by them. I think they sound kind of cool but after having been told about injuries, I decided I don't want to take that chance. It would be interesting to here from others that have had positive experiences with it.
My brother has 3 cats and they've had theirs for years. The only problem they have with it is that every once in a while it'll get stuck...and sometimes it'll wake them up in the middle of the night, but for the most part, they like having it.
It's supposed to wait 15 minutes after the cat is done to start, and it is supposed to stop if the cat enters it while it is cleaning. A friend of mine loves hers, but I see the potential for accidents.
My brother has one and he swears by it. His cat has never been injured by it. If it moves, it scares his cat away.
My only concern for my cat is that, for some reason, he doesn't bury his poo when he goes. It just sits on the top of the litter. It's really annoying. I guess a lot of male cats do that to assert dominance over that area of the house. Kind of to say, 'this area is mine'. But I would worry if I used one of those, when it was doing the whole 'raking' thing, if the poo would get all smushed and caught in it....ew
