old post, however DO NOT BE FOOLED... avoid this health problem ridden dog at all costs. The Pug Dog club of America has deemed it UNETHICAL to cross pugs with any breed, so you will not be able to find a responsible breeder of this mutt.
A cat by any other name... is still a sneaky little furball who pukes on the sofa.
My wife and I will be receiving our new 8 week old ori pei puppy in about 2 weeks. We plan on crate training him. What have some of you done in terms of house-breaking this breed? Any tips we should know??????
Respectfully, make sure to establish a routine as soon as possible. If you did get them from a breeder ask the routine (food too) that they used, and build upon that. Think baby steps & crate training!
If from a pet store you will have to start from basics and let out as soon as eat/drinks. Depending on pups age, I would let out every hr to couple of hours that you are supervising, Othewise they go into their cage until you can let them out again.
Pet store pups do have a tough time adjusting & eliminating on your schedule due to being able to eliminate whenever they wanted (in cages). Hope this helps & Good luck =)
Finding a responsible breeder dealing with shar peis is hard enough-finding one that mix breeds them is impossible. I hope you have looked hard into the shar peis health problems. One skin issue can literally mean thousands a year in treatments.
