i need information on how and when to get involved in this legislation. there is supposedly a meeting planned tommorow at 330pm in Atlanta. where? what are the details? how can i help. i really want to and i have other people willing to help too, here in Athens.
I am unaware of the meeting tomorrow and now the offices are closed. There were 2 hearings about it last week. Please email me with any info you have email@example.com . What building is it in? My dog and I sat outside the legislative office and the capitol respectively, letting people meet the vicious beast that would be required to wear a muzzle. If I am able to find out the same details that you are looking for, I will be there around 3, outside with my dog. I met quite a few very supportive representatives such as Greg Maddox and Michelle Henson that I could call in the morning (or you could if you get to it before me) and get details from.

I took our PABT today, she wore a cardboard plackard opposing HB 78 and we got in to the meeting,,,thanks to Michele Henson assisting the GUIDE dog !!!!hahahahahaha
I attended the meeting today in Atlanta on the Proposed Pit Bull Ban.. 12 to 15 people appeared...... We need MORE people to attend the hearing set for 2 pm NEXT Thursday at the Legislation Building behind the Capital Building.
Rep. Williams DID notice the attendenance, noting that there was more today than the last meeting.
Next Thursday is an ACTUAL HEARING...Bring out all the support. Friends, family, neighbors etc. for all the forums I am on and all the talk from hundreds of dog owners opposed to the ban, only a handfull show-up to speak out.
I know its hard when you are working to get there on a weekday but send a friend or relative in you're place if you can !!
Pass this info on to all dog owners,,,it effects them as well, because if this does pass, WHAT BREED IS NEXT to the State chopping block ???? And this effects all Bully TYPE dogs not just Pits and Staffs, if it LOOKS like a pit/bull type dogs it will on the HIT list.......:(
Thank you! I will be there next Thursday at 2. And I also have some others that will be happy to attend. Thank you for the heads up on the time and date. Representative Henson is WONDERFUL, is she not? So they let you bring the dog inside? Was this kind of an exception, or shall I bring mine?

Hi. My name is Nancy Badertschr. I'm a reporter with the AJC. I'm working on a story about the pitbull legislation and would like to get comments. I'd also like to get a picture of a friendly pit with its owner. I need to do this today if possible. Thanks for any feedback. To use your comment in my story, I need to have your full name, occupation, age and city.
I am so upset I missed the first hearing! I will absolutely be there today! Thank you so much for posting the information!! My sweet pit bull, Shiloh, and I will do anything to keep this terrible law from passing!
please contact me if I can help!

I go to college in Savannah and I can't get to any of the meetings in Atlanta. I signed a petition and even gave an interview on local news against the pit bull ban, but I want to do more! If this bill gets passed, my poor babies will never be able to play with their friends at the park again!
This bill is sooo unfair it makes me really mad. If it gets passed, I'm moving out of georgia.
I am very familiar with Monroe! I used to bartend at Ansley Golf Club! And I go to school on Peachtree and 25th.
If you live further out from Atlanta, you can make phone calls, write letters and emails, do petitions, and just do your best to get the word out to as many people as possible about when the hearings are, etc. I like to send emails and post on message boards something with all the necessary contact information for each of the representatives that need to be receiving letters. And I like to include a sample letter, too, to give anyone who may be new at this an idea of what they might write. That way, nobody has to research and find out who to write and how to reach them, it's all right there. They seem to try to sneak bills such as this one by without much publicity, and we won't allow them to sneak in a bill such as this!!
This is something that I try to do not only for GA, but for other states considering BSL and also other countries, like Canada, where right now it is right down to the line.

That I don't know about. But I am glad to find someone so close by who is willing to help. ONe of my teachers at school is involved in pit rescue and has many friends that will help, too. The problem is that we usually only have a day or so notice when a hearing is going to be held!
We should get together sometime, maybe when the next meeting is and bring the doggies and have a drink at an outside patio somewhere! BTW I am a married female, not a weirdo stalker looking for a date or anything ! LOL

haha! That sounds great! I'm a 'almost' engaged girl with very little stalker tendency myself. ;o)
and Shiloh LOVES having doggie play dates!
I read today that the response to this bill has been an overwhelming oppostion so I'm hopefull that it will get squashed. But it's still so unbelievable that it's even gotten this far. I think what people don't realize is that in addition to the muzzle and the sterilizing, our homeowners insurance will increase and we'll be completely unable to rent - even places that were once pet friendly. All because we have the best dogs ever!
I just found this site today. I did the online petition. Does anyone know how we can email these legislatures? I do not own a pit but do own a chow. She is wonderful. She would never hurt anyone. I am afraid if this is passed it is only the beginning and my dog will be affected too. Does anyone know what happened in the hearing today? I am a stay at home mom with one kid in school and a baby. It would be impossible for me to make it to a hearing unless it was in the morning. I can write letters and make phone calls though. Does anyone know how to get phone #'s, etc.
