When i was around 5 or 6 , My dad had taken me to one of his friends houses, and i was petting their pitbull and outta no where it bit my face , had to get 15 stitches , oh boy i still have the picture of him biting me now. and i'm 17. the thing was they said he had never even showed aggression towards anyone or ever bit them.
i've been biten by 2 more pits , and 1 rottie , i must have bad luck.
maybe theres someone like me out there who doesnt enjoy being biten.
No one enjoys being bitten by dogs. I've been bitten one time, and it was by my grandmother's dog, a Golden/GSD mix. We were trying to introduce our dog to hers, and it wasn't going well. She got so excited and worked up that she whipped around bit me on the leg. She didn't break the skin, but seemed to know she'd just made a big mistake.. after that she decided maybe she better stop acting goofy.
I'm sorry you've been bitten so many times. I'm not making excuses for the dogs but be aware that a lot of dogs see children as being lower on the social standing than they are. Just like they see young puppies as being lower ranking than they are. Doing things that to them seem pushy, such as petting them, especially on the head, sitting down in an area that they typically do like the couch or the bed (for dogs allowed on furniture) or even looking at them in the case of an extremely dominant dog can provoke a correction. The way an adult dog corrects a younger one is to bite it on the cheek of the face. This is why so many dog bite attacks on children take place on the face. While this doesn't typically break the skin of a puppy it does on humans, obviously.
I've never been bitten bad enough that I had to have stitches but when I was a kid I had a bad habit of wanting to pet every dog I ever saw. We had some new neighbors three houses down and they had a collie mix, sort of looked like it was mixed with a St. Bernard. I went to their house and the dog didn't look too friendly but it didn't look too unfriendly either. I slowly walked up the driveway, he was loose and never left the yard. The dog watched me and followed me, I knocked on the door and I tentatively pet the dog. He was fine. Then, the mother said the kids couldn't play so I pet the dog one more time and took off running down the drive, big mistake! That dog bit me in the butt! It just bruised me but it still hurt like heck. I didn't learn from that because across the street I saw a little girl put a puppy in the milk box, back then we had milk delivered to the house and they put it in milk boxes on the porch. I was worried about the puppy so I went up to get the puppy out of the milk box and knock on the door to tell them that was not a safe place to put a puppy when the mother dog came around the corner and bit my hand, it bled some but no stitches. I was scared of that dog for a long time. It was a small terrier mix, sort of looked like a large chihuahua. I wasn't scared of the collie though. So I don't have any phobias but it did take me awhile to get over being scared of the terrier.
When i was 5 or6 i was bitten between the eyes and under the chin by our doberman. His name was Sarge. He was our farm dog. We got him from my dads brother and on this day my uncle was visiting and for some reason the dog bit me when i hugged him. Something i did hundreds of times before. Well my dad got his gun and the dog took off never to be seen agian. Thats the story my parents tell. Well needless to say i dont like dobes. That is the only time i was bitten by a dog. I still love dogs and have 2. A boston terrier and a german shepherd.
I was bitten quite badly 2 years ago. A Chow that I rescued had torn out the bottom of my left leg. There was extensive muscle and tissue damage. Doctors had to remove a lot of the tissue due to the damage and could not repair it. I couldn't walk for 4 months and had several months of physical therapy. Not to mention that I have a terrible scar that people stare at, now.
Yes, I do have phobias. I no longer do fostering. I still work part time with rescue but with a lot of apprehension. Dogs that "play fight" almost gives me a panic attack. I'm afraid of dogs that I'm not familiar with. Going to PetsMart where dogs bark at one another makes me nervous where I just want to leave. I'm over sensitive on how rough my 2 dogs play with one another.
I was bitten 4 years ago at a party by a GSD. It was laying in a hallway blocking the bathroom.. In walking past it, it jumped up from what looked like a dead sleep and bit me. The owners said it was my fault because I startled it. It bled, but no stitches..
And two weeks ago at Petsmart where we were taking training lessons, a rottie x bit me twice on the arm. It was leashed, but hyper, and the owner wasn't paying attention. While working with my dog, it came up behind me and locked his jaw on my wrist. Twice. It only bruised like hell, but it's made me kinda cautious lately.
I do have a 1 dog myself. But he is far from being one to bite. if he does he plays and only knibbles. Seems he knows fingers are fragile its kinda weird. all we know is he is a mix between ausstralian shep and something else. Everyone on the forum said huskey.
Ok, this is really stupid, but I was bitten by a hamster years ago. I can still hear the Crrunching sound, lol. I cringe when I think of it and I now avoid picking them up. Not that there are any more hamsters in my house, kids are grown, thank god!!!
I had a terrier bite through my thumb when I was grooming. That was the end of my grooming days. Not that I was afraid of dogs but we called and found out the dog had just had his shots a few days earlier. If that dog had not had his shots I would have been in trouble. Didn't want to take a round of shots too, although I did have to take a tetus shot.
I've been bitten enough that I am very careful with strange dogs. I've had dogs lunge from their owners arms at my face because I approched their person, chuckle.
One of my own dogs ripped my lip open two years ago. She managed to get a leg caught in a fence and was panicking. Fortunatly, her leg was not broken and it only required eight stiches and you can barely see the scar!
Mostly, I've developed a respect and I don't assume that all dogs are friendly, espcally when they are in cages or near their masters.
lol I have been bitten many times. I laugh because I think I must need some tyoe of therapy for my stupid obsession with dogs. I am a glutten for punishment. If it is any consolation I suspect I will be bitten again very soon.
This topic has just made me remember of one time when I was coming back from work late at night many years ago. I got off the bus and had to walk several blocks to get home. When I was almost home a pack of big dogs (must of been around 8 dogs) sorrounded me and were barking very loudly at me. I was, to say the least, petrified! Suddenly, I saw a car approaching and I thought, great I am saved. Can you believe these people didn't even stop when they saw me?
I just stood there frozen not knowing what to do for a few moments and then little by little they all started going away. Somebody must of been looking out for me because those dogs looked very scary.
I was biten once by a teacup chihuahua. I thought she was the cutest dog (she must of been around 2-3 #)I had ever seen . When I got really close to her face to kiss her nose, she grabbed mine.
All those big dogs didn't do anything to me and here a tiny teacup chihuahua almost pulls my nose out, go figure LOL

i have been bitten a couple times by both cats and dogs. hazards of the job. last time i was bit was about a year ago by a golden retriever. just about took all the meat and skin off my middle finger. this was the first bite i ever needed stitiches for. my entire hand swelled up and i couldnt use it for a week.
lmao layla..sorry "crunching sound" I get bitten by the hammies all the time and they always draw blood..it's so annoying to be bitten by something so dang small!
I was attacked by a dobe when I was 18. All I remember was looking at Duke and then waking up in the hospital. My jeans were ripped, I had blood every where and my hand was torn open so badly that you could see muscle tissue and bone. I had to have stitches and still have scars from it, but I've never been afraid of dogs...even after Duke attacked me..stupid me still goes up to strange dogs and gets in their face, even though I know I shouldn't.
im cautious around any new dog that I meet because I'm not sure of what it will do. Sophie bit me on the leg while we were playing (she didn't mean to hurt me) and it bruised so i dont 100% trust anyones dogs at first
hi, it all depends on what kind of pittbull or rott it is oracts like.my dog thats missing is so nice and sweet you would even think it was a pittbull but it is and its lost.and we have been trying to find him.but yah mine is harmless and all it does do is lick you and sniff you.and gets along well with anyone.does anyone live in the palm springs or indio area??
Last summer my friend's dachshund bit me on the leg. I had been petting it on the couch. We went outside, turned to come back in, and it turned around and bit me without warning. I have a small scar on my leg that is fading. I went to her house this weekend (first time since the bite). She locked it in the kitchen with a baby gate. She says the dog has a mean streak. My oldest son was bitten by a Collie on the hand. We were walking in my neighbor's horse stables and it was walking with us. He put his hand on it's back and it turned and bit him. My neighbor wouldn't believe him that it bit him. My youngest son was bitten by a Cocker Spaniel a couple of years ago. He was delivering items my neighbors bought from a school fundraiser. Their Cocker was tied in the yard. He thought it couldn't reach him. When he went up to the door and knocked, it ran over and latched onto his hand. It tore his finger and thumb in a downward motion. They still have that dog, but they keep it inside or on their deck now. I never see it anymore, but I know they still have it.`111111 <~~ Kai (my Eskie) just did that...he says I am taking too long with this post and hit the keyboard!

I have been bitten by so many different dogs. Mostly because i dont learn and i attempt to break up dog fights with my bare hands. Lets see the neighbors pit/lab mix bit me twice. Broke the skin but didnt bleed. That was because i had just burned myself on the lawnmower and then te dog bit the same area. My dog Naja has bit me. He drew blood. He was in a fight and i grabbed him by the back of te neck to pull him off the other dog. He thought i was another dog attacking him. As soon as he realized it was me he let go. I had to go to the doctor for that. I still have the puncture scars from both those bites. I was attempting to worm Naja for tapeworm. They have these huge pills that you have to shove down thier throats. Well he needed 5. He got two down and i had to stop. He freaked out on me ad bit my hands repeatedly. I had huge bruises all over them and they were swollen for a few days. Then there was the time Naja bit my Uncle. That was my uncles fault though because he stuck his bare hands in the middle of a dog fight. He was trying to pull Najas jaws open so he could pull his dog out.
I have been bitten by so many other dogs it would take forever to tell. I will always have my scars to remind me about it though. Im not afraid of dogs. People tell me not to touch thier pits ecause thier viscious and i walk up and pet them. I have seen the damage a dog can do but it still doesnt bother me.
