She should be ATLEAST 8 weeks old (making her atleast two months old)......do you mean that you've had her for a month?
I think what you're doing is good so far. It is important to socialize the dog well at a young age. She should be exposed to lots of people and animals. A loud NO is a good start. Give her lots of praises for good behavior around strangers. Let your bro give her treats too when she acts well wtih him.
Hi. I have a 5 month old Chi that does the same thing. I believe it is also fear aggression with strangers. He will bite like crazy if anyone tries to pick him up. Even with me sometimes he will bite. I will pin him down and say NO. He is getting a little better, but he still is not the sweet puppy I had hoped to get. I have 2 other dogs and he is great with them, its just other people he cannot stand. Its really weird actually. Let me know how things come along with yours. I do not want to get rid of my pup either, yet it is sooo hard when they are like this. I have heard its the breed though. Good Luck!
sienna...2 posts before yours...the OP says the pup has been with her one month and was 8 weeks old when she got it...makes it 12 weeks old now.
Its the breeding and socialization.......what type of situation did she come from? Werethey raised in the house around people, in a kennel, were they handled alot? Its not necesarily a norm for the breed, espec at 12 weeks old.
I am raising chihuahuas and they are the most calm and loving oets you would ever see they are mostly a one family dog and the will always be pertective of a person that is always with them i would say its something that happened in your home.
