Hi people, there was a post on here a few weeks ago about someones dog having crystals in their urine and I can't find it so if anyone knows of it please direct it my way. The second thing is how serious are crystals?
Info on crystals in urine - http://www.dog-e-data.com.au/ask_amy/ask_amy_crystals_in_urine.htm not a good thing, but not a death sentence either. Typically caused by too much protein, it seems. Seems like the canine version of a bladder or kidney stone. Darned uncomfortable and needing to be treated.
Thanks for all of your input. she is on a pill called Dicural for 10 days and she's eating Hill's prescription diet s/d for six weeks and abouslutely no other goodies not even her raw hide bone. Her case is quite minor my vet said. She leaked pee a lot before and we thought it was due to a lack of estrogen, however, the vet said her estrogen is fine and it maybe because of the crystals..let me know what you people think. -PUBLIC
We just found out that my Pit bull Honey has crystals in her urine. She was having mistakes in the house alot so we took her to the vet. They gave us some pills for her to take, and also some Royal Canine Urine prescribed food. They said that the crystals just means that she has stones in her bladder. I am sure that it is very uncomfortable for her but its not a death sentence. Just do what the doctor says and everything should be ok. In the future it might be good for you to buy your dog some kind of dog food that has cranberrys in it like Nutro Ultra Holistic or you can give your dog a cranberry or healthy urinary tract suplement to try to keep it from happening again.
