on tuesday, i took my cat to the vet because the night before i noticed his l shoulder was quite swollen and a puncture wound in the armpit.after getting out of work the next day my son noticed he had a larger puncture wound on the outside of the shoulder. so through a snowstorm we traveled to the vet. we are assuming he was bit by our rottie/lab mix. yes she a big dog. because he doesnt go out. she shaved the area and cleansed it with something(i cant remember what).gave him a rabies booster and put him on an antibiotic and pain medication. she also gave us a syringe and to fill it at least twice a day with peroxide and inject the wounds with it.the one under the armpit has healed quite well but the one on the outside is still drainingand open. she told me to inject in the wound so it heals from the inside out. my question is--how many more days should i continue with this. i know it would be easrier to ask the vet but its saturday night and there closed on sunday. the drainage is clear not green like it was on tuesday. do you think i should continue injecting it in the wound or just on the outside of it. actually he handles it quite well. his name is motor and pure white and not deaf.any advice would be appreciated. thank you
Happened to my cat before..Is your kitty quarantined? Mine was, for 7 months.. That was torture, he's an outdoor cat. Alright, back on topic. We had to do the same thing, but I could probably continue for a few more days, then just use the topical meds. Oh and just a word of warning. Once its all healed, your cat still may not want you to touch there. My cat bites anyone who touches his stomach now, where the wound was.
