My Oldie was in labor last friday ,an she could'nt have the pups,so I took her for a c-section. She had 10 beautiful pups, all fine. When I got home I settled her in an put the pups on her to nuses. I kept checking every 30 mins to make sure everything was ok. Well when I went to check again,I was shocked! She had killed an ate there heads off! Only two were alive. The only thing I can think of is she was still sorta knocked out from surgery and did'nt know what she was doing,or just crazy! Has anyone ever had this happen?
i have heard of moms sometimes killing some pups. usually though there is a hidden physical problem or deformity that only a mother can sense. i have never heard of a mom just killing them for no reason. i have also heard that sometimes another dog in the house will kill off an entire litter also.
I was just in shock!everytime I checked onher she was jus laying down half asleep. Well she will go in a be spayed in a couple of months. As soon as she;s over her c-section surgery.I guess there just like people, not the motherly type.
I can't find anything on the internet about it. Usually after a c-section, a mother will take to the pups right away and nurse them. I find it odd that she would be in the whelping bex two weeks before labor. I've heard that mothers do sometimes killed that pups. That is really sad.
there doing very well. there sucking the bottle good. I get up at night an tube feed them,so I can jump back in the bed fast ha, But so far so good. I've raised amany like that. And just fall in love with them. You know how they think your there mother when they go to walking around some.
I'm sorry to hear that. Do you raise Olde English Bullies still? Of course it's rare enough for all of them to survive the birth. Like you said, maybe she just didn't want to be a mom. Some people/animals are just like that. Good luck with the other two though. Is the mother responding to them at all or do you have them seperated?
