The little kids like to see how far they can take it with my dogs. I don't get it why kids love to tease animals.I would never allow my son to do that.If I had a chain link I know these kids would be trying to hang their arms over the fence to see how close they can get to the dogs. With the invisible fence they can't tell where the fence line ends on the property so they don't dare try to get close enough. It least that's one problem I don't have to deal with.
Yes there has been a couple of times unwanted dogs have come onto my property. I had posted about a loose dog that was being walked by these kids on another post. My dog is territorial and they where walking their dog off leash . To make a long story short they called the police and lied and said my dog attacked their's in the street. There have been problems with the Mastiff who comes over and the Brittaney who comes over. My dogs are only allowed out when some one is home. I would never leave them out and go to work or the store or even take a shower and leave them out.I would never leave them out alone with a chain link either. One time the Mastiff came over I was in the back yard here comes Tigger running, she chases him back across the street, anther time she head butted him and knocked him on his side and he ran home. He's been staying away more it least. The fence has it's good and bad points. I know a chain link Tigger would either jump, dig under,or just keep hitting into to get what she wants. For me this is the best bet.
LOL -- I have a dog whose name SHOULD be Houdini. There is not a fence known to mandkind that she can not cilmb. Scales it like a monkey. We are putting a hotwire on the inside of fence next weekend to try to stop her. BTW..I did talk to local police dept who suggested I put up a "Beware of Dog" and "No Tresspassing" sign. Hope that is correct...they are not lawyers. Got to thinking that I should of called a lawyer instead. Oh well. Hopefully...that will "deter" the dangling limbs :)
Well, it's a true statement that any dog can bite, given the correct circumstances. Even one that is sweet and generous, and has no history. Certain breeds are MORE likely to be either child or pet aggresive, however, wherein lies the key. Firstly, putting up a Beware of Dog sign is aimed at reducing your liability, since you are forewarning any tresspassers that there is a dog on the loose on private property. I would caution against putting a Beware of Aggressive Dog sign up, since THEN you are admitting to the potential for aggression, which may actually raise your liability. Also, check with the writer of your homeowners insurance policy to see what they recommend, since writers may refuse claim payment if the owner of the animal did not take "reasonable steps" in the eyes of the law to prevent a potential bite, should one occur. Also, many policy writers have denied insurability when certain breeds are owned, among them Presa Canarios, Mastiffs, Dobermans etc, due to the dogs potential for aggression, coupled with misconceptions by the public that don't know the difference between untrained renegades and obedient well-cared for animals. I hope this helps!
My cousin she had 2 saint bernards and before they got the second one they had a sign you like that and that dog wouldnt even hurt a kitten and it loves anybody and i think it just lets people know that your dog will pertect you if somone comes to close to your property and i dont think of it as i have a guard dog it will attack if you come close you know
I agree with everyone but when you put up a Beware of Dog sign... doesnt that mean that you know your dog is aggresive and your warning others not to tred near them? Its like the "wet floor" signs. The floors wet, you put a sign up so if someone gets hurt they cant blame you when you had a sign warning them in the first place. And if they stick their arm over a fence or walk on your property to play with the dog that is most likley thinking "hey an intruder on my masters lawn" and goes after the person.. its on your property isnt it? That'd be tress-passing and with the sign a warning. I dont think they could do anything. everyone has those signs. Thats why people own "gaurd dogs". To protect the house from intruders. This is just my opinion though, im not sure of the law lol
