I was just wondering what the vet has done to try to find out what is causing Missy to have seizures? Have you maybe tried more than one vet? I know sometimes its an impossible sitution but some vets don't do all they can do either just like our doctors.
I am on the second vet for Missy. We knew that something was not right with her head, as it drastically changed shape (the first time). There were several conditions that we thought could be the cause none of which were curable. One of them was Cushings disease, and a brain tumor was another possibility. So what we did was to try and treat the seizures as best we could. We upped her meds, with blood tests every 3 months to be sure that the levels were okay for her liver, until we could not up them anymore without her being totally drugged out and lethargic. When her head drastically changed shapes again, along with her doing all the things a dog does when it is ready to die--- wanting to sleep and be left alone, not wanting to eat, no interest in the things she loves-- I knew it was a brain tumor. Heads just don't do what hers has. I will try to find pics and will post a current head pic tomorrow. I believe the vet has done everything she can, and has been very caring. They know me and Missy by name there, and have been super supportive, the Dr. even went as far as to give me her home phone number in case we needed her. Unfortunately, there are some things we just cannot fix. My daddy always said life's not fair. We just have to take what it gives us and make the best of it. Savor those good things.

I was just wondering if there might be some possible hope for her. We have 3 vets where we go and when we almost lost Tina it was only one that really knew what to do. Although they are all good vets, some are just better on some things than other. I am so sorry again for what you must be going through. I am such an animal lover it would just kill me to go through something like that. I know you have to be really strong, but like you said they know when its time to say good bye and you are really doing a caring thing. Maybe since they know you real well the vet will come to your house. I know that is what I would want too. My girlfriend just had to put her little pom down. She had my vet do it, and it was hard because they had to go in. Just try to stay strong and everybody is pulling for you.
I'm crying and she's not even my dog. I don't know why people don't understand that any breed can be taught to be mean. They have a bad rap because of some of the people they buy them and do what they do to them. There is a little female next door to us. I think she is only part pit. But, she is the sweetest little thing and they mistreat her. It makes me furious. I have even gone out and put dog food out on the grass between the houses for her.
