Perhaps there's someone who can help? - even if you're not in Las Cruces, NM!
I found this lovely 6 month old pitbull near my home - but I couldn't keep it at my house since I already have 2 dogs - a lurcher and a terrier. The terrier thought he (the pit) was great but the lurcher is fear aggressive and doesn't like tough looking dogs so there started the problem. I could have put the pit in the yard and my dogs in the house - but he was looking good for getting over the fence - so I could have put him in the house and my dogs in the yard - no good either the fear aggressive lurcher is also agoraphobic when on his own.
So cutting a long story short, I thought it best to take this wonderful little dog to the shelter. Its a great shelter but they're completely overwhelmed with dogs - NM is pretty bad on pet overpopulation. His 3 days are up and he goes in for adoption evaluation tomorrow. I'm fairly sure he'll pass BUT he's a pitbull (or may be a mix?). The shelter have much more luck rehoming chihuahua mixes and other breeds considered to be more family-oriented.
PLEASE if the shelter decides they aren't going to bother with him (I'll know in the next day or two if they aren't going to allow him to go up for adoption) - can anyone ANYWHERE in the lower 48 take this dog? I can arrange the transport.
Maybe I'm over-reacting or just being too emotional, but I feel terrible that this poor dog's time might be up and it's my fault he's in the shelter.
thank you for reading this long post.

i may be wrong, but i believe that pitsanddobes was actually banned off the site. as for someone helping you, there are lots of dog lovers, and pit bull lovers on this site, some of whom may be willing to help. best of luck with finding somewhere for the pup. i'm in canada, and already have 2 dogs (APBT and rottweiler) otherwise, i would help!
I'm in Tucson AZ, so maybe I can find a way to help you. There are a ton of resources on the web, so you might be able to get in touch with a pitbull rescue in your area. Here is a link that might help.
Finding safe homes for Pits is very hard to do. So many people want to use them to fight or use them as bait dogs. Just be very careful! You should find a resuce group from the above 2 links that should be able to assist you in at least fostering him for you. Good luck!
" I mentioned pitsanddobes because she was helpfull to me when I was seaking help. I didn't know she was banned."
If you would like to get in touch with Pits, please email me - firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will put you in touch with her. She is not in a position to take in any more souls right now, but Lord knows she has contacts.......
