I have a A.K.C. Registered Sheltie with an impressive pedigree. I would like to know how to go about studding him out. I have know idea on this matter , what to charge, where to advertise , and legal matters, etc... I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Welcome Tag. If you look through, you'll find a few threads where many of us have posted about this topic. There are really a lot of things to consider and even though your dog may have a super pedigree (which is a good start) you'll want to evalate him first and compare him to the breed standard. Also see if you can find someone who is knowledgeable in the breed to also do that for you. If he is right on, then I would proceed. IF not, I would consider neutering him. It is an expensive process-testing-genetic as well as brucellosis, contracts, advertising, but evaluate him first and go from there.
