4 pills for 100 pound dog, which means 1 pill for each 25 pound of dog.

I gave my 90 lb akita 1 pill to start off with. I would have increased the dosage to 2 pills (which is normal dosage for an adult human) if necessary. This is one of the pink and white capsules. 4 of them seems wayyyy too much, that's 2x the dose needed for your average adult human.

i give my 80 pound lab two pills per day, both in the morning for her allergies. that does her just fine. the sheet from my vet says for her weight she could have 2 pills twice per day, but i like to titrate to the symptoms.

You cannot dose a dog based on a human, they are two totally different species. A dogs metabolism averages more then twice that of a human, BUT this does NOT mean you give a dog twice as much. Always contact a licensed veterinarian for dosing information. I've never had a problem gettign advice simply by picking up the phone. Average MAXIMUM dose for a dog is 25mg for 25 lbs, 1 pill per 25 lbs, however, dogs often do not need this high of a dose for relief. For allergies, try a lower dose first, and increase ONLY if neccessary.
Please remember that even a small amount of some medicines for humans, can KILL a dog, especially Tylenol (acetaminophine).

the dose for benadryl is 1/2 - 1 mg per pound of body weight. the adult strength is 25 mg per capsule, the childrens strength is 12.5 mg per pill or teaspoonful. benadryl has the same effect in dogs as it does in humans ... can make them either sleepy or hyper active. start off with 1/2 mg per lb til you know whether that is enough.

1 mg per pound is the vet recommended dosage. Depending on the severity of what your treating, giveing half that would be a good start.

This is for both childrens liquid and pill form. Just read the label for MG per ML on the liquid. Tabs are 25 MG each and would be cut for smaller doses.
