Keep him on a leash, like one of those long extenda leashes. Then if he chases, he wont get away from you. That's the only sure fire way to keep him from chasing rabbits, as it is in a JRT's blood to chase like that.
I agree about the leash, I realize I am in a different set of circumstances here in the country but even though my dogs are in a huge pasture they still do not chase the poultry, rabbits etc. The way I taught them was to sit in the barn with them, individually, with a critter I didn't want them to chase, took a couple of hours a day for a few weeks, but it had to be done. This way if our rabbits ever get out of the cages or the poultry gets in the dogs' pasture they do not chase them. We do this with every new critter we get although Lil Bit still isn't too sure about our one lamb.
Problem is you would have to get a baby rabbit and than what would you do after the training is done. Better off just using the leash.
