Are peanut butter any good or bad for the dogs? I see a lot of people giving their dogs peanut butter, particularly for kong stuffing. Will dogs get fat and unhealthy from eating a teaspoon for about 3 times a week? I have a jar of peanut butter lying around for a few months since I bought it and the oil within it has floated up all the way to the top (on top of the pb)... which immediately got me wondering if feeding PB be a problem to the dogs... due to the abundance of "hidden" oil. Has anyone tried giving low cal/sugar/salt PB to their dogs and do they like it at all?
i use real peanut butter sometimes, but have found at the pet store a spray type pb, or chicken flavor, kinda like cheese whiz, i put that in the kong. they like it, so it works out pretty good. i had always used regular pb before though.
Peanut Butter is a life saver !! Not only is it great in a Kong...but as long as you watch carefully, it's a great way to get a dog to swallow a pill easily. Not only that, but when you need to do something that dogs don't like (clipping nails, vaccinations, bathing...) smear a little PB on something...while he's distracted licking that up, he won't even know what else your doing to him :)
