Hello, I wanted to see if anyone knows if an English Bulldog is suppose to shed. It is getting warmer here and over the past three days he has begun shedding bad. There is hair everywhere if you touch him you get hair everywhere. I just washed him and everytime I touched him hair was coming out and when I dried him the towel was covered. If you look at him you cant tell he has lost any hair. Please help. He has recently gone to the vet and I want to make sure he didnt catch anything. I called the vet they said not to worry if he had no bald spots or red spots on him.. What could this be? I think I am going to just carry him on to the vet tomorrow but didnt know if anyone else has experienced this or not. Thanks everyone!
Just because english bulldogs have short hair doesn't mean they don't shed. They do shed, and badly at some times during the year. Your vet has it right, unless there's redness or sores where the hair is coming out, this shed is perfectly normal. Some dogs shed badly a couple of times a year, during spring and summer. Other dogs shed a little bit year round. But bulldogs definitely aren't one of the little or no-shed breeds.
I agree. Bulldogs are shedders, just like any other dog. Especially if your dog is still young, he may be losing puppy fur. One of my bullies is 17 months, and he just quit shedding piles of fur in the bathtub.
He is 16 months old. We have only had him about 2.5 months and this is the first time he has done this. I just didnt know if there should be cause for concern. He hasnt been outside much and we have had the AC on about 70-72 is what we keep it the same as always it just scares me that something may be wrong. He is the first English Bulldog we have ever had and I really appreciate any and all help! Thanks
