Is there any wolf hybred breeders or rescues in florida .my neighbor has one about 6months old unneutered and is starting to show dominance .even though i have one myself not sure how much, mine looks more shepard/pit then wolf .im a little uneasy with this accident waiting to happen i notice that the kids play with the dog and the adults hardly pay attention to him .
That sounds like a ticking bomb there. The hybrid is showing dominance behavior, and left unattended with small children. There's really nothing a breeder or rescue can do unless the owner is willing to surrender the dog, which I highly doubt. Unfortunately this is one of those cases where nothing can/will be done until it is too late. How old is your dog? Is it spayed/neutered?
why doesn't she get in touch with the people she bought the dog from. here we go again with uneducated people taking on what they can't handle and the end result being euthanasia. there are lots of wolfdog rescues out there. type wolf dog park into your computers search. thru that website you can get rescue information. please get the dog out of there asap before one of the children gets killed.
here are two places to start guardians of wildlife located in virginia email@example.com or http://www.wolfpark.org/Links_rescue.html this site will list wolf hybrid rescue organizations all over the country.
The problem with the rescue organizaitons is that it will require the owner of that wolf hybrid to be willing to give up the dog. If she/he isn't willing to spay/neuter the dog, or keep kids away from it despite evidence of dominance behavior, what makes you think they'll be willing to give it up to a rescue?
sadly they dont want to give up the dog ,they claim hes good with kids? as for mine he is nuertured and is 7 yrs old .i dont leave him unattended with small children or any children in that matter . i tried to explain to them about this dominance behavior buts it a losing battle .with mine when he was younger we had to alpha roll him .[iI DONT ADVISE ANYONE TO DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THE DOG ]. MANY TIMES i lost count . i have emailed animal control and waiting for a answer .just knowing that he lives next door makes me uneasy . seems strange that he has no tags on too .
he'll be good with the kids until the day comes when one of them makes a squealing sound or takes off running. then the wolf instinct will come out. the wolfdog will see the child as prey and will take it down and kill it. sorry but it sounds as though these people were ignorant when they got the hybrid and are even more ignorant about the potential for a very real danger. why shouldn't they be ignorant when it comes to doing what's best for the situation.
Tell your neighbor to get help ASAP! I do not like wolf hybrids and I don't know what's wrong with people breeding and owning them. If God wanted to create wolf hybrids he would've created them from the start. People are playing with fire with these wolf dogs!
"i notice that the kids play with the dog and the adults hardly pay attention to him" Tell your neighbor to get a grip! Those kids unfortunately will probably end up as lunch to this wolf hybrid if the parents don't do something quick. I swear some people should not be able to own pets let alone have kids.
Call child protective if you feel children are going to be hurt. You may save them. Something has to be done. If you can't get it done through animal protective organizations, then Please do something to protect these kids that are risk of perm injury or death. You have to try. Ella's mom
I have to disagree with alot of these posts yea wolf hybreds can be mean if you raise them wrong VERY few are mean for no reason you have to know how to raise them. I have 2 wolf hybreds phoenix and falcore and they are great pets and big babies. Sometimes very stubborn but thats about it. I even keep them in the the house. They did take a little longer then the average dog to housebreak approx 9 months but after that nightmare was over that was it. They also love and actually mother children and look after them. Another funny thing is I also have a 11 year old maltese and they guard and look after her dearly. I also have company quite often and have big poker games quite aften and they do not show any aggression towards people that are with me if they don't know them. they just kinda stay away from them. They also make great watch dogs and guarentee they won't let anybody break in my house. so no not all wolf hybreds are bad. Just give them lots of love but be very stern at the same time and they will respect you and be a lving companion to your family plus give you protection.
I have a question, what's with everybody bad mouthing wolf hybrids when we never hear of anything bad happening from that... But when it comes to Pits, everyone claims they are loyal, friendly and awesome pets!? Who's to say a wolf can't be that wonderful pet you own at home? That's my question...
*yawn* Old post... Though that is a good point, it always ticks me off a little bit too when wolfdogs get a bashing from the same people who preach the importance of not condeming a dog based on it's breed/mix.
