Ok..a few things...
I have 7 Dobies...all meet and greet every single guest I have. Especially the pictured guy on my ID. These are extremely sociable dogs when propely raised..socialize them young and often.
You need to build this dogs confidence. Lot's of tug of war with a knotted rope. Allow him to "win" every time and praise him, but don't over praise him. The idea here is that he wins. Alot of Dobies do not like their rear ends messed with, just keep rubbing and relaxting scratches on his rump will help.
If this was a female I would never breed her, this behavior would be repeated with her pups.
